Gaston Leroux First wrote "The Phantom of the Opera" as a serial in a Paris magazine in the 1890's. The first movie was made in 1925 starring Lon Chaney, Sr, and there have been several movie versions of it made since. However, there had never been a stage production of it...then, in the late 1970's, the head of the theater department at The School of Fine Arts in Willoughby, Ohio completed a script that he had been working on for approximately 10 years/ He held open auditions, and I was fortunate enough to be cast in the part of Eric, The Phantom (This was a regular play, not a musical...if I had had to sing on stage, THAT would have been a REAL horror story !!!!!!!!Anyway, this image is from dress rehearsal night of that production.
