known universe

Known Universe is a photographic/imaging, 3D design and graphics enterprise.  I founded it in 2001, and branched into several areas of computer graphics and 3D model texture creation.  Some of my recent work depends extensively on photographically-realistic and near-realistic sourcing of images which are then re-purposed in the digital graphics realm.  I've been a photographer since 1973, but until recently I've shied away from doing portraiture of any type.  All that changed with the deaths of several close family members and the subsequent realization that I was holding myself back from something I've really wanted to do for decades.

I'm strongly attracted to minimalism, so I'm trying to let the models shine through without a lot of artifice.  I'm also fascinated by the human face and head, and I'm always trying to think of new ways to showcase their beauty, power and mystery.

I'm open to many types of collaboration!  I'd like to work with models who want to get behind the camera and do studio work as a budding photographer.  I'm also interested in helping models develop (or establish!) a portfolio for their own use, usually for free (although if your requirements are extensive, we'll need to talk about that).  If payment for a model's services are involved, the payment can be monetary (hourly, session-specific flat rate or honorarium), TFx, or even barter for other photographic, image-editing/retouching or graphic services.
