Kiki London is now Kiki Japan

A returning amateur who shot many rolls of 35mm film in the 70's, with B&W as preference, and now has been re-inspired by becoming a founding director of online photographic art business ONGallery.

My inspiration came from seeing the works of some brilliant photographers, including Hemut Newton, Norman Parkinson, Barry Latigan, and some that I have met, such as Johnny Thornton (sadly recently deceased) and Leo Mason.

My first interest is people; all ages and ethnicities and both gendres.  I like to take photographs not just of people but about people.  I seek to capture something of their natural selves, enjoying, in particular, fanatstic faces, lithe and exerted torsoes e.g. of dancers and slightly unusual situations.  I like and seek out the quirky angles and don't mind bending the photographic "rules" of composition and lighting to make a great shot. I am also hugely curious about city scenes and how people interact with them, which sometime leads to slightly abstract shots where the people are absent but something they have influenced remains.

Now I take every opportunity to photograph people I meet generally for exchange or just fun but increasingly getting paid for photographing something special or particular for them (I don't do weddings, BTW).  I enjoy photographing aspiring and non-models (including doing some portfolio shots), because one gets very natural expressions.  But I often photograph pro models too.  Happy to take on commercial / publicity shots e.g. stores and restaurants for modest fees.

I also have shots in my mind that I'd like to take and will sometimes pay a model or models to pose those if I can't wait to find a volunteer or two. I would currently like to find a few volunteers for an art project I have in mind, which will require very close-up shots of partial faces, particularly keen to get a variety of enthnicities, skin hair and eye colours.
