Hello, my name is Kean Brown. I was first introduced to photography over thirty years ago in the mid eighties. It was in the early nineties when I started to take photography really seriously when I went to college in Blackpool to study the subject. I went on to gain City & Guilds qualifications, at distinction level, in five different areas of photography. Two of these areas were in processing; Black & White and Colour Printing. I very soon set up my own dark room and became a very competent printer, printing all of my own photographs and also other peoples. The old dark room is now long gone and has been replaced with the computer and editing software such as Photoshop. Having a strong interest in both the camera side and also the processing side and, in order to not get left behind, I went to night school for over two years to study Digital Imaging (learning how to use and get the best from Photoshop), achieving advanced level certificates.
I have been a member of the Royal Photographic Society for several years. Founded in 1853, it is the most prestigious international photographic society and has long been recognised for the promotion and maintenance of high photographic standards around the world. My work has been recognised by the RPS and subsequently I have been awarded the distinction of becoming an Associateship of The Royal Photographic Society (ARPS). I also currently hold the FBPE Fellowship Crown Award, the highest distinction in British Competition Photography, for achieving more than 500 national acceptances for my images. These accepted images include Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, Certificates, Ribbons, Judges Awards, Commended and Highly Commended Awards. I was also a member of Wigan 10 Foto Club (one of the most successful national and international photographic societies) for just under three years and I am still a member at my local club, Poulton Photographic Society. I regularly enter my work into both local and national competitions in order to better myself and raise my profile. This has proved to be very successful for me having had my work win awards on many occasions.
My passion for photography continues to grow each day and I consider it a pleasure to continue to learn about the subject.
