Hi there!

My name is Katanya, and I’m a beauty and portrait retoucher based near Cairns, Australia. I’m available for paid and TFP work (predominately TFP atm, I’m pretty new at retouching).

I've always been interested in beauty - when I was a kid I would draw fake beauty magazine covers. Later on I went to uni and completed my undergraduate studies in Communication Design (majoring in traditional illustration), and dropped out of my masters. 😁 I then went on to work in print design for a few years, until I ultimately discovered that it just wasn't my calling. Fast forward erm, a few years, and at the beginning of last year I discovered the wonderful world of beauty retouching, and a lightbulb lit up in my head!

Even though I'm new at beauty retouching, I've been using Adobe Photoshop since 2001. I tinker in Photoshop in my free time, around my employment as front-of-house at a motel, and a corporate uniform embroidery person (which means I still occasionally design things).

Eventually, I'd like to achieve my goal of actually doing retouching as a side job. Lots of practice and networking to happen in the mean time however! 😊

26 October 2022: Sorry I haven't been around much! Work life has been chaotic to say the least - and thus I really haven't had the energy to devote any time to retouching.
That being said - from now I should hopefully have more time to devote to learning new skills, and getting better at retouching - every cloud has a silver lining, even nasty ones like cancer ;)
