JuninhoPhoto - 20 Years In Digital - A Retrospective (2003 - 2023)

I bought my first professional digital camera (a Nikon D1H) back in 2002 (until then, it was all one unholy mess of film, chemicals and a very, very dark room indeed).

Aside from using this fancy Nikon digital thingy for my commercial work, it was, by 2003, also being put to use making “Juninho” kind of pictures with various friends and collaborators.

20 years and (something like) ten worn out digital cameras worth of “Juninho” later, here we are. 

I thought it would be appropriate to “celebrate” this digital anniversary in some way and so, over the coming months, I am going to pick out some of my favourite pictures from the many “JuninhoPhoto” shoots that I have been involved since and post them in a specially branded frame. I am going to try and find some new frames and there will be a mix up of monochrome and colour, as the mood takes me. 

Thanks for all the love for my body work. Clicking the shutter with lots of fab collaborators is a genuine honour and I am glad you guys all love the pics. Please “like” and share these posts to your stories to help spread the word.

I have launched a Discord server

Just wanted to say that I have set up a Discord server where friends (and friends of friends) can meet to discuss my kinds of photography and things related to that…

A loose amalgam of like-minded friends (and friends of friends). An independent space to chat about things amongst friends that are broadly related to the world of our kinds of photography and art (and, no doubt, all sorts of other things too).

A place to share work, ask for advice from the community, share tips and tricks and let us know about any good deals you might have happened upon for photo equipment, wardrobe etc.

Or just come in for a bit of a chin wag and a cyber brew amongst like-minded friends (bring your own biscuits).

Our watch words are safe, sane and supportive. We are friendly, welcoming and non-judgemental. We love all.

Styling, wardrobe and art direction offered (free until further notice)

Having a wealth of experience in achieving certain looks, and having sourced wardrobe for many shoots that I have art directed, I am looking now to get into styling and art directing photoshoots for other people. 

In order to progress this, I am (for a limited time) now prepared to share access to my large wardrobe of fetishy items (clothing, shoes, props etc) and my own art directing skills to photographers and models who might be seeking to break out of their normal styles into something more along the lines of the pictures that I have been working on… 

So, if you think that my wardrobe and skills might compliment a shoot that you have coming up, please drop me a line and let me know if I can help… The results of this work are seen in my photographs both here and on the other sites that I share my work….

2022 Update

OK, so, as we move out of the pandemic, I have been going through a pretty major re-assessment of where I am with photography and what I want to be doing moving forwards.

First thing I want to say is that, unless I have a commission that has a guaranteed income, I am no longer going to be hiring models on full rates to shoot with me. 

I totally appreciate that this is going to mean that there are lots of people I am not going to get to shoot with, and I totally respect any person’s choices in that matter, but I hope you all respect that I am being totally up front here so that folk can make fully informed decisions. 

What I am looking for is people to work with to create something that says something… My influences are varied and I am hoping to combine them with a collaborator’s influences to create pictures that are a meeting of the two minds… My ‘folio tells you what you need to know about my capabilities s a photographer… 

I am happy to work on a TF* basis and will consider offers of part-payment if I think our work together will particularly benefit my portfolio. I am always looking for collaborations where we work together to create something that combines our influences. I am happy, within such arrangements, to share with you my extensive wardrobe and props store. I am also happy to share ideas and creative inspiration. 

If you are looking for content from me for your paid sites or other commercial uses then you will require a licence from me and we can agree a fee for that. Please be aware that I will not do any commercial work without a licensing fee being paid. 

I will, however, consider part-reward arrangements where we both share in any proceeds that we are able to realise after the shoot, or perhaps a deferred payment agreement where you can pay as your income stream kicks in. 

I will travel uk-wide (and further) to collaborate with the right person.

Long established and very experienced commercial photographer, based in the North East of England, shooting worldwide.

Working primarily with available light and inspired by an eclectic and diverse group of photographers/artists, I am presently shooting a mix of glamour, fashion, fetish, alternative, retro-glam, retro-chic, burlesque and live performance...

I have started to offer 1-to-1 coaching sessions online, and (as soon as covid regulations allow), in person... This to help photographers develop their skills in a number of areas in which I have gained valuable experience.
