‘Perfectly Imperfect’ me

                                        JulieAnn

Hi I’m JulieAnn. I’m a 56 year old woman at the prime of my life and I’ve finally discovered my life’s purpose. I achieved self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth in the second-half of my life and now I want to share how I discovered ‘myself’ with other women so they can enjoy the same freedoms.

   What do I do?

I am a BODY FREEDOM photographer. I am currently re-branding my photography business to fulfil that niche and am currently building a portfolio for my website that I plan to launch later this year.

   Where have I been?

I’ve been learning life’s lessons. I’m a daughter, a sister, a mother and a wife. My life has been dedicated to others and like many of you I’ve had long periods struggling with my identity and self-confidence. Now it’s my time.

   The turning point

Like for so many of us, lockdown was a catalyst for change. I was struggling with teaching on zoom. I’d been a dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) teacher for 12 years. During lockdown, photography was my way of maintaining good mental health. It reignited the creativity that burned writhing me. Returning to the classroom was tough. Then menopause kicked in and incapacitated me. I lost everything. My health, my mind, my confidence. I quit my job got to grips with my menopause symptoms and changed my life.

   Transformation

You know when you can attribute one event that changed you forever? For me it was an incredible and truly transformational experience -  an artistic nude photoshoot - where I felt beautiful for the first time in my life. It quite literally set me free. I found myself.

From that one event I discovered self acceptance and developed self-confidence. Slowly, the other parts of my ‘self’ were restored; self love, self belief, self worth. It’s finally time to be me. I drew on this experience for strength and courage to take that leap of faith and become a full-time photographer.

   My Goal

I want to offer all women who are ‘stuck’ or held back in whatever way to experience the freedom I did from allowing themselves to be at their most vulnerable and beautiful. To bare their body in order to bare their soul and let it fly. They will probably be experiencing a ‘mid-life’ shift. They may be peri-menopausal (and possibly not even know it) or menopausal. They may feel at some crossroads in their life in their relationships or careers. They most probably have put others needs before their own and suddenly realise they can’t remember the last time they felt inner joy or at peace with just being let alone celebrated themselves as women. I want to change that.

What BODY FREEDOM Boudoir means to me?

It’s personal, it’s intimate, it’s safe, it’s sensual, it’s liberating, it’s transformational.

I should know. I was self-conscious and loathed parts of my body until I experienced being photographed in the nude.

It can also be a lot of fun! Yes, I bring joy and love to goof around. I’ve got over taking myself too seriously. If that’s you then great. I also have an ultra serious side to my personality. It’s a little dark and most definitely sultry. More you?  Every woman has both. It’s up to her which she feels she wants or needs to set free. Either way, you are a sensual being bathing in your feminine energy and you deserve to have your true beauty shine from the inside out.

   My promise

To see you. To listen to you.  Revealing your inner beauty takes trust; takes courage. With my experience and understanding, I will capture your most authentic femininity. As a photographer, I take responsibility for how I portray images of women in society. I endeavour to show women as strong, independent and confident in who they are and what they want. That is my promise. That is my responsibility. It starts with me.
