G's story

The relationship between women and the earth was well established before I even ever planted a single seed. However, for me nurturing my home vegetable patch puts me in touch with my feminine self. I really identify with women from our past of the ‘dig for victory’ wartime days - a time when female empowerment took huge strides and the role of the woman within society was altered forever. They carried the whole country through a time of great need by digging deep and getting their hands dirty, providing when there were a shortage of men This era and the necessity to provide touches the very core of my female nature; to nurture, to feed, to support life. Therefore, I celebrate my feminism and indeed my lady garden, every time I put fork to earth, I ever time I see seed become a shoot and every time I put a home grown meal on the family table.
