John Duncombe

I am an amateur photographer living in Birmingham. Having fallen in love with photography many years ago I enjoy creating images in many genres, Landscape, nature , wildlife, motorsport and aircraft. 

I started taking people some time ago but this was a very small part of what I shoot. The main reason I started with portrait photography was to broaden my horizons into other genres in the hope to awaken my artistic side and improve my people and overall images.

Having done a number of workshop shoots, I found that I really enjoy the interaction with the models, especially the collaboration to create a pleasing final image, which is quite different but complimentary with my other shooting types.

I would now like to start to increase the ratio of my people photography. The goal being to better understand what makes a good people photograph and how to create stunning beautiful artwork that includes people. I plan to work to better understand the essence of a good photograph, the "light", and how to use it and control it to generate beautiful images. A challenge I know but one I am looking forward to.
