Lamas are not as nice as they look, sadly. They are grumpy (like me) and they spit at you if you annoy them (unlike me!). The Royal Lama is the heaviest and largest of the different lama breeds and was prized for it's ability to carry the biggest loads. Lamas have never been used as riding animals. No animals were ridden in South America until the Spanish imported horses.
