I've been interested in photography since I was a child - the first camera I can remember having is a Kodak Disk camera back in the 80's (hands up who's brave enough to show their age and admit to remembering those!). I've been through various types of cameras ever since - old film 35mm cameras in the 90's, my first SLR being a Minolta - that I bought on holiday when my 35mm decided it'd had enough - and had absolutely no idea what to do with the array of settings. With the new century brought various P&S digital cameras until I got my first dSLR in about 2010 (a Nikon D60). A few years later I upgraded to the D7100 I now own. I've taken photos at car/truck shows, concerts, dog shows, airports (yes, I'm a plane nerd too!). Mainly I took landscape shots and sports photography.
The sports photography is where Ice Cold Photography came into being. I'm also a massive ice hockey fan and started taking my camera to games and shooting those. I had a reasonable amount of success with that, my photos being used for some online publications and, occasionally, used in the local papers and fan based media. The ice hockey photos I did for fun because I enjoyed it, but it also brought me to the attention of a local Roller Derby team, who booked me to cover their host days for two seasons, as well as doing their team portraits. The ice hockey work also got me a booking to shoot the wedding of one of my fellow fans in 2018.
I'm just starting out in "people" photography and don't have a great deal of experience in the field so I'm looking to expand my portfolio. I'm not really sure which direction of portraiture I want to move towards but am open to suggestions and any ideas you might have, although for some reason I do have an idea that I would like to take some Cosplay shots - I have no idea where that's come from and it may just be a passing fad, who knows?. Anyone that may be interested please feel free to browse my portfolio and if you feel you can help me develop my skills as a photographer then I'd love to hear from you.
I'm based here in Stowmarket, UK but get to Dallas, TX three or four times a year and would also be interested in working with people in this area.
Thanks for stopping by
