Since the age of 15, when my local secondary school decided to run a photography course, I was intrigued and believed I’d be well suited to the subject. Ever since this point, photography has become a huge part of my life, I am autistic and what this subject has done for me over the past 4 years socially is just incredible. Photography has enabled me to connect with people and after discovering this passion, I have developed a desire to pursue this into further education specifically at the University of South Wales (BA Hons Photography).

At the end of the academic year I hope to achieve an extensive range of knowledge about the subject that will put me in a position to excel at University. In more detail, I’ll be studying key elements of photography, these are but not limited to; studio techniques, landscaping, through the lens based work and contextual studies looking at the history of photography. This will give me a broader understanding of photography and prepare me well for university.

 An area in particular that has captivated my imagination is implied nude photography. This passion has led me to study this specifically outside of college and I have been able to complete numerous photoshoots with volunteer models. I wanted to be able to experience the view behind the lens if this given situation and the work I have been able to produce has been of a high standard and well received by peers. Furthermore, I was given a project at college to write an essay on the subject and choose to talk about Pornography or Artistic Nude.  This allowed me to connect with people including studying the different definitions and completing relevant market research. 

Learning about a new subject over the last 4 years has been intense but I have loved every minute of it and my passion for the subject keeps growing and growing. I’m fortunate to be in a position where I can learn everything about the topic and put it into practice in my spare time, the mental and physical learning combined complement each other very well, working really well for me and I think this is why I have excelled.

Doing something I love day in day only fuels my passion to turn this into a lifelong career. I see university as a natural next stepping stone after college and I’m excited about what the future holds. I’m a fun, enthusiastic team player who cares deeply about the subject developing key transferable skills that I can use in life. Self-Discipline, focus, punctuality and communication to name just a few.

Life after college, I work full time at a company called Jaywing. In the little spare time I have I run and operate a small successful photography business including photoshoots for Medina Nightclub and being the main photographer for a couple of weddings. Holding down a job at the same time as constantly performing in college showed the clear punctual, reliable and hard working person I am. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people especially as photography has helped bridge the connection with the individual.

In my free time I enjoy a little relaxation, having fun with friends and listening to the latest music. I am fortunate to be in a position to be spending the majority of my time enjoying what I do weather that be photography at college or being at work.
