I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember, always as a hobbyist, but only shooting family and friends, places I visited etc, always with the desire to photograph more but always letting the day job get in the way. Gig photography has been enjoyable on the few occasions I have managed to get a proper camera in (apart from one nightmare at the Eventim Apollo, shooting Goldfrapp (with photo pass) where we could only shoot from the very back! about a mile away it seemed)

Nature and landscape always interested me, but people were always my favoured subject, although friends do not always want to be photographed. Capturing a particular look, highlighting a persons strength and beauty, producing a photograph of them that takes them by surprise is the goal. A friend of mine told me about a photographer, local to him, Michael Mills in Alfreton, organising an open model shoot day for Cancer Awareness, and as model shooting was something I have always wanted to do but never seem to have the courage or time to pursue, I jumped in with both feet, and don't want to look back.

I am not a massive fan of photoshoping images (probably as not so brilliant at it myself) but I do appreciate those that can do it artistically, so another reason for wanting to join purpleport is to connect with those that can. Take one of my images, and jointly, create a piece of art. Having said that, I am tryng to learn PS and LR now, as a paid up subscriber :)
