I'm Gemma, a 33 year old semi-professional photographer. Originally born in East Yorkshire and raised across the UK in a military family. I now live and work in the beautiful city of Lincoln.

My career path initially started out in 2002 when I joined the Royal Air Force at the ripe young age of 17. As a young lass back then I had no clue how my life was about to change or what the future had in store for me. From initial training at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire I then took up my first post to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. From there I moved onto RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, PJHQ Northwood in Middlesex and finally onto RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire working with the world famous Red [url removed] was during my time with the Red Arrows that I bought my first house and from the moment I took hold of those front door keys for the first time, I knew I wanted to stay put, no more travelling from one end of the UK to another, no more tours of Afghanistan. My time in the RAF was coming to an end.

Luckily for me I fell in love with an amazing Childrens Charity and was fortunate enough to be offered a full time position with them for 5 and a half years, making dreams come true for terminally ill and very poorly children. I have since had a change of career and now work as a Recruitment Consultant in Lincoln.

So where does photography fit into all of this.....? It's quite simple really.... I picked up a point and shoot camera during my time in Scotland and one day found myself at a Falconry centre with a friend. During our visit we were treated to the privilege of being able to fly some of the amazing birds of prey. I wanted to capture some of the moments of our day and was determined to catch a bird landing on my friends arm. What actually ended up happening was me panicking and pressing the shutter release button to soon. Disappointed about missing the shot I wanted, I started to look at what I had taken a picture of and to my utter amazement it was an owl in full flight, wings spread wide open! I was totally amazed and found myself thinking, well if I can take that by accident in a moment of panic, what can I capture if I actually try.

From there on in my love of photography grew and here I am today, working in my spare time on portraits, pet and wedding photography with the odd mix of wildlife and landscapes when I get the chance.
