GE Photography - The Studio

The STUDIO is situated on the 2nd floor of the Grain Store, 48 Whitesands, Dumfries, reinvigorated after years as a grain store the Studio has  been developed and redefined from its original purpose within the wider context of the building  to an industrial, creative, and flexible multiple studio workspace for photographers and videographers with access by stairs or lift to the studio. Our aim is to run an inspiring and supportive space for photographers and a safe and respectful space for models.

As well as 4 functional shooting areas over the 138 square metres (1485 square feet) we have also developed an educational area which can accommodate up to 25 people at a time. There is also a comfortable client area with access to high-speed broadband and more importantly the Nespresso Coffee machine.

Whether a professional or amateur, you will be excited to know that the Studio, situated in the centre of Dumfries, just minutes from the railway station, with ample parking and easy access, is now available for hire by appointment at very competitive rates.   

We also offer technical support as part of our services if required.  The services of our resident MUA can also be arranged.

Studio 1 - Full 18 metre squared cyclorama wall with lighting rig and single pantograph.

Studio 2 – 4.6m wide with room set design and ceiling mount paper bracket for 2.75 Colorama rolls.  Full 4 pantograph lighting rig on this studio. Length of shoot area from back drop is 15 metres.

Studio 3- 5-metre-wide backdrop wall with three roll rig for backdrop Colorama rolls. Full 4 pantograph lighting rig. Length of shoot area from back drop is 8 metres. Projector screen also mounted in this studio for training purposes.

Studio 4 – Set up with 3 separate rigs and light box kit  for all aspects of commercial product photography.

48” UHD Smart TV on stand with tethering cables for live feed via your laptop in any of the studios.
