Robert came out to shoot with me on my Arts Voyage exclusive/solo one-to-one trip to Madeira - a trip that we chatted about/got excited for and even planned a half day shooting locally to meet properly/break the ice for! It was just our luck that a globally catastrophic pandemic hit right when we hoped to jet off! 😭 For prioritising safety/doing the right thing - the event resulted in being rescheduled twice before we were finally able to go. In that time: Robert was patient, understanding and sympathetic of all the madness that was involved with logistically swapping things around over and over again. But to be honest: I think it was partially what made the trip that bit more fabulous when we did get there! Over a 3 day exclusive/one-to-one slot shooting with this gentleman in some of the most spectacular locations that Madeira has to offer - an endless number of stunning pictures were created, lots of chatter persisted and general adventure-filled goodness which was a superb finale for myself as the last slot on my event. ☺️ Thank you so much Robert - it was so totally worth the mental run-up and anticipation! We got there at last, and t’was smashing! 😃

Robert is actually from my neck of the woods in sunny (and hilly) Halifax, so the Northern banter and like-mindedness was the focus of our rapport... He’s a very friendly and easy going person as a result (I mean Yorkshire power right? 😁) He’s very polite and respectful too so all the boxes get ticked from a point of view of him being a really nice person to work with - someone that I believe any model would feel completely at ease with. After all: spending a straight few days with someone in such a one-on-one setting has to the ultimate test! I’ve hosted a lot of people - each with different personalities and drives on my trips... And I can wholeheartedly say that Robert was a breeze/joy to be accompanied by, and very enjoyable to create with too! 😊

The locations we shot at ranged from national park trails, rocky sea pools, urbex wrecks/ruins, and more! We also shot some cool themed stuff back at the lovely villa in which we stayed... Robert got into every creative opportunity and showed epic willingness and drive to get to places/make the ideas and locations come alive - his own in-depth photographic interest and fascination was a pleasure to gel with on a teamwork basis: taking every challenge as it came with ease! I mean sometimes we’d be literally hiking up and down millions of steep stairs in the baking sun to get to a location! Or dodging people in the town streets whilst trying to shoot street fashion - our escapades ranged so much in the craziness we got up to! 😂 Alas; it was both creatively inspired an experience, and lots of fun! And I mean that very much so.

Robert’s camera was jam-packed with really dazzling shots every single day following our runs out to locations/sets back at the ranch. He captured some real animation and art value in several of the shoots; looking back at the fruits of our labour was so rewarding and exciting for me as a model/host to see how Robert pulled cool images from Madeira’s beauty! I couldn’t, to this day, tell you what my favourite shots were that we did - so many had lush qualities. 🤩

So yes - I recommend this gentleman very loudly! My whole experience with Robert was just brill... Even his communications before we flew out to Madeira were perfect! Lots of fantastic memories from the trip - and a definite positive all-round feeling about our time making pictures together on the event. It’s obviously the case that I would be thrilled to shoot with Robert again in the future - he’s a terrific human, and was a joy to host with Arts Voyage. ☺️

It was a real pleasure getting to work with Robert for the first time! Another fellow Halifax creative! :D I literally had colossal levels of respect for Robert before shooting had even started when he told me, only upon getting to my place, that part of his journey involved walking up the crazy hill to mine! Now any local Pennines/countryside town dweller will know exactly what I mean by this!

Robert was a fantastic communicator (a star in fact!) and we had the shoot plan/details sorted and in the bag in literally no time at all! Plus the arrangements for an event of mine he was attending later down the line... He came across professional, polite and reliable from the very first instant; and I was greatly looking forward to working with him even though we had not yet met!

On the day of the shot, which took place at my home, Robert had a clear creative vision of where he wanted to go. It’s really refreshing to see someone pursue a vision/set of visions like this because there is an awful lot to think about for a photographer when meeting a new person and then thinking of all the other aspects like light/environment, and of course what expression the model can bring! But Roberts innovative interests in thinking outside the box did shine from the outset. :) We used available light with the backup of my simple continuous daylight lights - Robert threw himself straight into the flow and was good at suggesting directions, whilst also allowing me to bounce back with my flow. It was a very prolific rapport - and the same thing happened if we threw a prop or piece of furniture in the mix! It was just all happening in the best creatively visual ways! :D I really enjoyed working with Robert for all of this reasoning because not a stone was left unturned where it shouldn’t be: and he really had a passion for seeing that moment and picking out simple things which actually really made the shots! That’s often the hardest part of photography!

Further still (yes there’s more!) Robert is a lovely person. :) He’s very respectful in his approach and I felt totally at ease working with him at my home. We chatted looooaaads about everything from Yorkshire things to photography related stuff and had a real social blast as we worked as well! Plenty of brews in-between at a non-pressured pace making for a very relaxed and good-vibe atmosphere. The time actually flew by!

I really look forward to working with Robert again in the future and can wholeheartedly recommend him to other models. :)

I had a brilliant shoot with Robert recently at Crossroads Studio during my studio day. He is punctual and fun to shoot with. We was working on his fantastic strip poker idea. Robert is easy to chat guy, time just flew buy. Thank you so much for a delightful shoot!
