Today: Alan flies for the first time in two years ... my landing was remarkably good but my communcations with ATC were rather ropy

I've had a pilot's licence for 40 years. I haven't flown for the last two years, partially because it's horribly expensive (I'm now retired) and partially because my medical has expired and I've been too afraid to renew it. Anyway, my flying was not too bad and my landing remarkably good considering my lack of recent experience. Note that although I do not have a current medical, I can perform the entire flight as long as a suitably qualified safety pilot is sitting next to me.
