Lovely shoot with David at FOTO-CLUB. Despite getting a little lost (my own fault!) the shoot was brilliant. Lovely group of people with great ideas for portrait shots, and a fun 60's vibe towards the end. Would recommend David and the FOTO-CLUB very highly and look forward to working with David again in the future!

I had my first photo shoot at FOTO-CLUB yesterday and I had an amazing time! Everyone at the studio

was friendly,communicative and photographers were giving directions easy-to-follow. Lovely people to work with it and great coffee served :) I would definitely work with David again and I highly recommend him.

Had a second shoot today with David for his photography course sessions and it was just as much a pleasure as the first evening! David face great information prior to the evening so I know what style to prepare for and he is very organised with his evenings. He has great ideas throughout the evening but let's me collaborate too. I really enjoy working with David and would definitely recommend him!

I enjoyed a very productive and enjoyable shoot with David and his group of students in the function room of the Rose Villa Tavern at the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter on the evening of Wed Oct 14th. Before the shoot David was careful to explain what it was he was trying to achieve (a 'Bond villain' look for me, a 'femme fatale' look for my colleague) as well as to explain the structure of the session itself - with his group dividing to shoot each of the two models in both halves of the location. I was particularly pleased to see David give each and every one of his group the opportunity to direct the models - it gave them the opportunity to get what they wanted, and mixed things up nicely for us - and pleased to hear him giving good clear advice about angles and poses when he himself was directing. In short I can honestly say I have never enjoyed a shoot more, and am really looking forward to seeing the outcome of the evening as well as to working with David again in the very near future.

I worked with David at his new workshop 'New Blood' which I throughly enjoyed he made me feel comfortable and ensured we got the best images possible. Great photographer and very easy to get along with. Loved the studio especially the cafe set! Hope to work with him again. Many thanks x

I modelled at a photography open evening tomorrow that David hosted in his studio. He gave great information before hand, explained everything really well and made sure I was ok as the night went on. He came up with some really interesting ideas and has brilliant props so I really liked working with him. As an actual photographer he is really easy to work with, he has ideas and gives directions but allows the model to work with him to get the images. Can't wait to see how the photos look, would definately recommend him and would love to work with him again.

I worked with David on a club shoot at his studio and had a really enjoyable time. I felt comfortable throughout and everyone was friendly with a cracking sense of humour and sense of fun. We managed to create some great images and definitely look forward to working with David again!

I attended a group shoot, mentioned by Philip in the review below mine. 8 photographers with the beautiful Rosa Bighid.

David is a lovely bloke and made us all feel comfortable, giving us each chances to direct. A great urban location was provided.

Definitely a great opportunity and highly recommended for togs just starting out, but my only criticism is maybe that 8 was a bit much for the space and the model.

Models in the Landscape

David organised a group shoot - one model, 8 attending "photographers" and David himself.

For those that have not tried it, dealing with folk in this type of environment is akin to herding cats and it is only fair to say that there was occasion when some attendee's suffering from a lack of spatial awareness was annoying - we have all perhaps had the perfect shot lined up for someone's elbow to suddenly appear in he foreground.

That said, David ensured that each attendee had ample opportunity to "direct" our model in each location so everyone did have the chance to gain a significant number of images in the shoot of almost 3 hours.

Personally, I am not 100% confident in directing until I know my model a little. To be honest, direction was not really necessary due to the experience of said model (separate review/recommendation) and the constant flow-posing.

As I run occasional workshops myself, it was interesting to compare alternate styles / breadth of instruction as well as observing the other attendees.

As a potential competitor in some ways, I would still say that the shoot offered interest and value and would certainly consider a further event.
