Thank you so much for stopping by my portfolio. I’ve been on Purple port for over a year now and I just love it. I’m an amateur photographer who works full time but when I’m at work all I think about is my next shoot or project. Literally there are hundreds of ideas swimming around my head at any one time about shoots I have an idea for, shoots I’m planning, shoots that are in the pipeline. Along with shoot ideas are ideas of models that I would love to shoot with, make up artists who’s work I love, locations that just beg to be shot at. The crazy ideas seem to come to me at crazy times such as when I’m driving or am in the shower.
Because I’m an amateur I am never going to charge for my work. I do it because I simply love doing it. Meeting and working with models, MUA’s, designers and other seriously arty creative folk is my favourite way of spending an hour, day, week and bouncing ideas off each then bringing those ideas to life brings me great joy. The buzz and happiness of a shoot starts from its initial conception or discussion right through to displaying the finishes image.
Favourite style of shoot is outdoors in the mountains. I’m lucky to have a base in Snowdonia in North Wales so each day there is spent seeking waterfalls, new remote beaches, ancient forests and some seriously stunning mountains. I just can’t get enough of Snowdonia and class it as my favourite place in the world. Each time I go there I discover new corners or ancient pathways through mind blowing scenery. If you are up for an early start and a treck to location then we should be getting some fab images.
Manchester “The industrial heartland” is home really and where I spend most of my time. I have my fave hotels, studios and outdoor locations that never fail to deliver shoot after shoot. I love shooting in models own homes and having to work hard to get that shot. Around Manchester is the Peaks, the lakes, Snowdonia, Yorkshire national parks, Saddleworth with their various Lakes, forests and stunning scenery.
Over the past year or so my fave shoot genre seems to be settling on fashion. As a guy in his 50’s who is the worlds biggest scruff you can find me in designer shops, charity shops, bespoke jewellers and artistic Glastonbury type vendors of mad attire. Last Christmas, my good lady Julie bought me the “Vogue 100 years of front covers” instead of the set of spanners that I was expecting
I just love building rock solid working relationships with models, MUA’s, designer and other creative and slightly mad people. I am known to be rock solid dependable, reliable and a man of my word. If I say I’m going to do something or say I will be there then only serious illness or injury will stop that from happening. I will move heaven and earth to make it happen and this is the quality that I love so much with people that I work with. New people are a joy to meet and I so look forward to new introduction and adventures all based on a rock solid. “My word is my bond” relationship.
Good communication is the second awesome quality that I look for in creative people and in anybody that I work with generally. The good manners of confirming, denying, responding and keeping people in the loop is key to a glorious working relationship that pays dividends in the form of images, respect and future projects.
If you are new to Purple port then add me to your “Want to work with” list. If you are an old hand then get in touch and lets discuss one of your many ideas and what we can do to make it happen.
Over the last year, I’ve travelled the length and breadth of the country shooting. Just shooting. I’ve been in models homes, studios, hotels, mountains, beaches and on the streets of various citys. My mission was to gain as much experience as I possibly could and I think that my portfolio shows diversity.
We are currently locked down due to Corova Virus and I’m using this time to learn how to use lightroom and photoshop. All my images over the past year or so are being re edited with my new skills. I'm finding that having lots of time on my hands leaves my mind free to wander and its fab the number of ideas that are coming to me at the moment. Pen and paper is not too far away ready to jot it down before its gone forever.
My photographic mission is to make photographs that people would be happy to put on their wall and I would be happy to display on my website. My second photographic mission is to have as much fun as possible. Getting as many as my projects done with some fabulous people will be a dream come true plus getting published gives me a nice little Buzz too :) :) :)
Get in touch, lets shoot.
All my best wishes Stay safe
