One hot summer day, another photographer I knew who lived in New Jersey called me up to say that he had a model to photograph over at his apartment, and he wanted to know if I wanted to come over for a little while to photograph her, too. I said that I did, and eventually I drove over there to arrive at his place, only to find it stiflingly hot, with no air conditioning on. Eventually, I did mention this to my friend and he turned on the A/C, but sometime before that, I asked him for a glass of water, which I really needed. However, before I drank it, I wanted to see if I could use it as a prop. One of the rooms in his apartment was completely empty, so I brought in a small table, placed the water filled glass upon it and asked the model, Julia, to stand away from me behind it. I focused on the glass, getting part of Julia as seen in the water, with her out-of-focus form behind it.
