New Beginnings

I am a photographer from mid-Norfolk and I've been into photography for over ten years now, concentrating on landscapes and still life. My style is dark monochrome using old lenses and lensbabys and minimal PS mucking around, although I've been told I vignette the hell out of everything. I have sold work and exhibited for the last 5 years, both solo and in group shows.

The last 18 months have been a bit of a hiatus for me as I've been concentrating on family issues and the break has kind of put a bit of a creative block in my way. I've always steered clear of people photography in the past but i shot a friends wedding as a favour and sort of enjoyed it. In the last year I've attended workshops by John Gray, John Denton and Jason Pierce-Williams on studio lighting and want to explore this side of photography more. I'll still probably aim for dark and moody and will probably still vignette the hell out of everything but I hope the end results are as well received as my fine art work has been in the past.

I have invested in a small two light studio and speedlight setup with a couple of stands and modifiers and have had a couple of practice shoots with my wife as reluctant model. I'm not looking to go straight into shooting myself but would like to do a couple of one-on-one training sessions to thrash out a few things if anyone can recommend a good trainer? I'm also willing to act as an intern type assistant on shoots for the experience. Of course, if there is anyone out there local to me who wants to get together and play around with setups and poses for S's and G's then I would be happy to bring the kit.
