Dameon Jamie

My wife and I are the directors of Wild Sugar, our fashion label. My wife, Sajeela Jamie, is a Fashion Designer and has been making dresses since she was a teenager and even earlier if you count the dresses she made for her dolls as a little girl growing up in the Black Forest of Germany. My journey as a photographer began with a photo of a total solar eclipse that I submitted to the BBC on 14 November 2012. Shortly thereafter I dived in head first on fashion photo shoots to support our label. I have a sense of quiet amazement that I exploit via photography on fashion photoshoots and for themed projects, as well as landscape, astral and long-exposure photography.

I have been a photographer for our label for 10 years now. We organise a new shoot every few months. Sajeela often creates a collection inspired by the model or the occasion.

We like to work with new people from different backgrounds. I enjoy working with experienced models with a classical ballet or performance art background. Cairns is a small town, and finding new talent can sometimes be difficult. That's why I am exploring Purple Port so that we might connect with new models who are visiting the region.

I am developing a freelance portfolio. I want to offer people soulful portraits of themselves and their loved ones. My website is a work in progress.
