David Attenborough first got me interested in the hummingbird and then with the fascination of learning of the diversity of its evolution and how its subsets adapted to differing environments, i was hooked. Despite my interest i was still absolutely blown away meeting one in the wild, they float and move like something from a fairytale. The mechanics of their flight is fascinating, i spent a while digging through scientific studies and wind tunnel experiments as scholars conducted them with hope of replicating their control. The white scrawls each represent a wingbeat per second and the red heartbeats, they roughly mimic some of the forces that create the vortex that allows them to hover
