Robert Bent

I've been a keen amateur photographer for 4 or 5 years now. My main area of interest is in landscape and event based photography, architecture, mainly in black and white, is also one of my areas. I am also particularly interested in photographing industrial archaeology, canals and waterways and steam locomotives on heritage railways. I always like a challenge and try to photograph things as they happen as opposed to static subjects when I'm out on location, getting up very early or staying out late to capture the right light is all part of the deal. If I spot something of interest in the news or an event which might be of interest to me I will go out of my way to cover it.

I have done some model work, both indoor and outdoor and again I like a challenging scenario and enjoy experimenting with props and lighting. I have organised a couple of model shoots for the Facebook group that I belong to, we have about 20 photographers attending with at least three, maybe four models, both volunteers and semi professionals, shooting indoor and out so it's pretty hectic but good fun!

My aim is always to learn from other people, learn from my mistakes and try to improve my standard of photography. Although I try to achieve technically good results to me the most important thing is to generate work which is interesting and shows events as they happen, nothing is worse than a technically perfect photo which is of a boring scene or subject!
