I am fine artist focussing mainly on figurative work. My photography is used exclusively as reference material for producing works of art. Until recently this was mainly oil painting using a very traditional approach, right down to making my own gessoed panels. More recently my work has become increasingly digital using photoshop, painter, art-rage using a yinova digital monitor, and also using procreate on the iPad.

I have over 15 years experience working with life models, in studios, and privately at home. Previously I spent more time drawing from life, but increasingly now use an all digital workflow. 

The two key aspects to my work are texture and theatrical lighting. I have been working to create a traditional textured feel to the digital work, and start by creating textures on a board which are then photographed to be used as the texture in painter and art rage. I also quite often work with mirrors to get multiple perspectives on the subject and to add depth.

From a lighting perspective I am mainly interested in two point light with one white and one coloured light to give a strong sense of directionality to the work.

I am extremely professional, but very relaxed and friendly to work with and would be delighted to work with models that can help me create suitable reference work for my next series of work.
