References for Barend Houtsmuller Photography

Recently participated in a lighting/nude workshop led by Barend in a large studio. In the morning he introduced various modes of lighting illustrated using his own work, then took us though the process of building various light setups for a mannequin. After lunch Barend and his aide Caroline Beekman assisted me and five others with setting up lights and props for the ideas everyone came up with in different fore- and backgrounds, light directions and poses with great model Joy Draiki. Some modified the set they got from the previous person, others created very different stages. Barend provided creative or technical advice, while letting each of us go with their own flow. The last hour or so was devoted to discussing what we produced and learned, what worked and what less. I came home with many good images that were well exposed, which allowed me to process them in more creative ways than I was used to. Excellent stuff, thanks so much Barend!
