Conflicted Portraitist...

Most folk who have met me wouldn't guess, but I am shy. Once forced (or I have forced myself) into social contact I do alright. Fine, actually. But getting to that point is not easy.

Landscapes, street, cityscapes... I shoot a lot of these, but portraits are the only photographs that really interest me.

So, slowly, slowly, I am getting more portrait session experience. 

What's the Point?

The answer changes.  There's the joy of creating. The process of collaboration: communicating with a subject to find a shared vision and to then try to make it a reality. 

Truth be told, I want to make images that somehow manage to capture an facet of my subject's persona. So that when people who know the subject look at the image there is something of the truth about it. Not merely appearance, but some aspect of their humanity comes through.

Where?

I spend most of the year in Geneva, Switzerland. When Covid isn't a factor I spend a couple months of the year in Donegal. Frequent trips to London and occasionally Chapel Hill, NC mean that I can arrange shoots in these areas as well.
