Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to drop by. I’m an artist living in Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a teen, but as so often happens, life and family took priority for a good few years. But, with the family grown and more time on my hands, I came back to it in 2017 and since then have been drawing and painting as often as I can.

I love to develop a subject by first drawing in pencil, then doing a watercolour and then committing the image to oil on canvas. I think it gives me a better understanding of the subject matter, and how to capture the essence of the image.

I love telling a story through a picture and prefer to capture this story - leaving the viewer to ask and answer the questions posed by the subject for themselves.

As you can see from my portfolio I enjoy different mediums: figure drawing and landscapes in pencil, watercolours, and oils. My oil paintings tend to be large, and take time to do, especially if I want to create a mood or capture an atmosphere. My favourite medium is pencil. I prefer figure drawings to be sensual rather than overtly sexual, allowing the story to come through in the drawing, whether that be simply the story of the light and shadows or capturing a mood or drawing the viewer into the picture to contemplate what the drawing is saying.

I strongly believe that if you want to progress and improve your art form you should be open to both compliments and criticism.
