Something a little different! For my final project at universityI explored the topic of cgi becoming more prevalent in todays films, and it’s use taking away from the art of prosthetic makeup and special effects. I wanted to create an impactful character using prosthetics and special effects to explore the extensive amount of work it takes to compete with CGI. To create something innovative and original I explored my own personal issues with sleep paralysis and nightmares to inspire my creation. Sleep paralysis is a terrifying condition that effects around 8% of the population. During sleep paralysis you can experience hypnagogic hallucinations, in which you can hear voices, feel a crushing or choking sensation or see vivid faces. For my final project I brought the face from my nightmares to life.
