Bondage and Fetish
April 2019 - I've been a year on PP and what a year it's been!
I started this profile to achieve two simple aims. These have been truly surpassed and I finish the year finding myself more passionate and creative not only in my art but my life too. So I have to start by saying a big "Thank You" to everybody I have met through PP who have assisted in my journey.
I have had a bit of an Epiphany recently. It was as unexpected as it was tumultuous. But, certainly, it was not what I had anticipated only a year ago. As a result I thought I needed to revise my profile and present a clearer view of who I am and what I am trying to achieve.
I started rigging when I was 21 and have been doing this for over 30 years. However, I still bring to every shoot my 21 year old self, as he is a lot more fun and energetic.
I am primarily a Shibari Rope artist. I can and do use other mediums, leather, chain, silk scarves etc. But it is with rope in which I find the greatest enjoyment. However, that said I don't want to focus on pure Shibari imagery, I feel that there is a lot of high quality Shibari out there and I don't see an area in which I can add value. So I'm now looking to apply rope to unusual situations. I have some weird ideas going round in my mind and I'm always looking for Models who want something different on their port and Togs who can capture it.
I started this journey aware I wasn't a competent Tog. Hence; I was looking for someone who could capture my rope work and allow me, during my old age, to enjoy the content rather the moan about the quality of the image. Now; I know I am a useless Tog and this journey is so, so much more than that. Now I want to make the viewer stop and think, to present something different to make the viewer look beyond the picture's image and feel the experience the model is experiencing.
I don't feel I want T's&C's but would prefer a meeting of minds. A collaboration will always produce better results then a set of orders. However, with at least 3 parties at every shoot, the rigger (me) the Tog and a Model or two, I felt it sensible to put something up to refer to in case of any confusion. So please read my guidance notes below.
If I book you, (TFP or cash) you are acting as my proxy. I will produce a shoot schedule available at time of booking and direct you as best as I can during the shoot as to what I am after, but if I am working with you it is because I like your work and as you are the professional I think you can add value. I expect you to bring this expertise to the event.
Post shoot I expect to receive the pre-agreed number of untouched proofs for evaluation within 72 hours. These may be shared with the Model(s) if working TFP. If at this stage you have a Post Production theme, it can be shared to aid the creative process.
Final images should be available within 2 weeks of agreeing the pictures to be processed.
If you book me (TFP or cash) I expect to receive a mood board at the time of booking as to the type of binds you want to shoot during the event. The Model(s) booked must also fulfill my criteria listed in the Model section below.
Previous bondage experience is not required. But please do not expect full bondage rates of pay if you are new to the genre. All I ask is that you be willing and enthusiastic, and always pack a sense of humour, as we all like a laugh. Important: if you suffer from any physical injury, I must be informed at the time of booking.During any shoot I would expect to cover the following types of binds.
- Non-restrictive. (Including a signature shot.)
- Semi and full suspension.
- Master and servant.
I will usually only contact you if you list: Bondage, Fetish, Topless and Nude in your shoot styles. If I book you (TFP or cash) I would expect you to go to these levels. If I intend you to go to nude on the shoot I will advise you at the time of booking. I will always provide a shoot schedule prior to the shoot with outline ideas. I want a realistic representation of the shoot. Bondage has a way of stripping away those outer layers to reveal the hidden beauty hiding below. So don't expect to have loads of post production glam slapped on unless you book me and the Tog.
If you book me (TFP or cash) I expect you to go to the above levels and that these are listed in your shoot styles. I must also receive a mood board, at the time of booking, as to the type of binds you want to shoot during the event and the levels you are prepared to go to - if less than your agreed styles.
Unlike some other riggers, I am prepared to tie up first timers, (usually on a TFP basis) so if you haven't done bondage before and you only want to safely dip your toe, a PP email to me confirming that you will go to at least: Bondage, Fetish and Topless is a pre-requisite - if it is not in your shoot styles. NOTE: Bondage is a contact sport. I will have to touch you!
"Art has a duty to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable." Banksy.
If I'm booking you, I reserve the right to have final say on the post production process. That said, If there is an image or an item in the image which causes concern to the Tog or model, please discuss this with me. I'm not an ogre. (Well not on PP anyway. 😉)
One area I am unlikely to compromise upon however, is the Photoshopping out of rope, or other binding material, from the final image. It may be a bit of waste rope to you but to me it is the essence of the shot or an important safety feature. This is my medium and as such it is by extension myself which is represented in the image. You wouldn't Photoshop a models eye out for instance, would you?
If you are booking me, then you have final say in the post production process. If I am working TFP, then I expect the same treatment as if I were booking you. If you are paying me, then you can do whatever you like, but if I do not like the final image or do not feel it meets my standards I will request that I am not recognised as the rigger.
In all images that are posted online containing my rigging I am to be recognised as the rigger. (Above excepted.) Likewise I will always recognise the Models, Togs, Studios and assistants participating in any images that I post online. (Unless requested otherwise.)
Happy to chat through any interesting suggestions.
