Caught up with Andy on my most recent Chester tour, doing our usual half day (where we spent most of it talking πŸ˜‚) and then me and Mark had a nice dinner out after the shoot with him too!

Andy came along with a mahoooosive bag of lingerie and wardrobe with him, and after a mooch through that to pick some favorite bits that stood out to me we worked our way through a few different looks around the airbnb (still pining over those fabulous nails haha!)

Andy is just a bloody hoot to be around. He has the most infectious personality and a cracking sense of humor that is right up my street. I've known Andy so many years now (god damn I feel old!) and it's always a pleasure catching up with him!

Let's not leave it so long next time please!

Highly, highly recommended by me :D

Keira Lavelle

Oooookayyyyyy... Well, I shot with this photographer during my Valentines studio week (yes - a stupidly late reference because 2022 has been like a bloomin' time travel movie, shit tonne of stuff happening in what doesn't feel like the actual number of months past...) I've since tortured Andy with my next-level madness twice more but there ya go! Poor bugger! 🀣

See, way back when - Andy had obviously yearned to come to Yorkshire for literally ever. Like; it was his calling. He knew it was the Holy Grail land, Gods own country where the roads are paved with gold and little white bunny rabbits hop about merrily as the elves sing. But how does one take the plunge and pursue such a seemingly overwhelming dream? I mean Yorkshire literally glows at it's borders, it's does leave the unsuspecting outsider lost for words at the mere thought of stepping foot onto the sacred ground. What Andy needed was some batshit crazy model of the enchanted county to light the way with an offering of handmade floating hearts crafted carefully from the red quality street wrappers (someone told me they don't do em' anymore... ABSOLUTELY LIVID!!!), an outrageous amount of balloons (one of which would later explode in my face with Andy trying hard not to piss himself laughing - he was just being polite as it was our first shoot, he would now!) and a teddy bear that would wind up being assaulted mid-shoot (um - standard?!) So all the elements were in place to distract our very brave photographer from the daunting task of facing Yorkshire in all it's gleaming might! Rolled up were his sleeves, and in he jumped!!! (I mean if we want to get uber technical about this, he didn't jump in at all. He would have actually had to do a fair bit of jumping up because mine is 323m above sea level due to the mountain of awesomeness on which Yorkshire sits). He got there tho! πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒ Flatcap and Yorkshire tea gift pack on arrival, bit more clutch-roaring to get up thi' ill' and there we are chaps! Good old Halifax - the official centre of the universe! 😁

Andy's Yorkshire adventure chapter 1

The planning of Andy's fateful shoot and subsequent trip to the wilderness went swimmingly well - it couldn't have been better actually! Keira gives her unquestionable compliments to his eloquent speed and clarity of pre-shoot narrative; with communications so precise that the follow up mission was bound to flow like bodily fluids from a hay fever sufferer! Getchyo words out proper from the start - that's what I'm talking about! No need to make a simple admin task sound like a bleedin' riddle or novel is there πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ that's my lad Andy!!! Casting-message-doneandbloodydusted, inthediarythnxbye!!! What I mean to say is: Andy was a truuuuuuu delight to arrange shooting plans with. 😊 For t'was a blissfully confusion-free exchange taking us right to the point, both looneys involved knew what they were doing and when... I mean, that's all you need isn't really? Sorting out a shoot slot needn't be an episode of war and peace surely? One can use this time saved to perform other highly important tasks - such as worshipping the great overloads of Yorkshire/worshipping cats. As the grand assignment was established, all that was left was to get our agent over here! Now there were several modes of transport considered: it seemed all the horse-n-carts for hire were out transporting lords and ladies to extremely important banquets and Yorkshire pudding eating ceremonies. The carrier pigeon's were on strike that weekend, and instead shitting on townsfolk... Canal boat was nearly an option but there's too much paperwork/life jacket bollox to short out which we didn't really have time for. In the end we settled it that he should probably just come over on this device he called a motor car? He seemed pretty confident it would work thus I granted him with my faith. Against all odds he seemed to dodge the great Pennine harpy which haunts the M62! 😱 The news channels will have you believe it's merely something they call "congestion" which allows utter mayhem to unfold on that wretched passage, but we locals know the truth and it's most definitely supernatural forces that stirs up choas. Second next to the Bermuda Triangle that cursed road... Our photographer has the makings of a fearless warrior! βš” And so; he arrived perfectly on time. πŸ˜ƒ Once inside the photographic residence of the arty-farty temple of picture-making fuckery, and out of the grey (usually miserable) Yorkshire weather which has a tendency to batter visitors senseless with murky rain and sleet ejaculation, we settled our first ever in-person meeting with a traditional Yorkshire welcoming. A good cuppa tea! (I can't actually remember if it was Yorkshire tea I offered him, but I think as long as he didn't get a cup of my grotesque looking pond sludge, he'd have been happy tbh! πŸ˜„) The formalities were complete, and t'was no longer a Zoom-only familiarity. My objective was complete in proving that I was a real human being and not just a computer-generated image spamming virtual socials with propaganda about Yorkshire. We were halfway there! πŸ‘Œ

Andy's Yorkshire adventure chapter 2

Now'st beginsssss thou shooting expedition!!!!!! πŸ‘€ After much meticulous deliberation, it was decided that the opening of thou's photographic undertaking should commence with chasing the sun! (I mean not literally of course, you wouldn't get very far on foot, and even if you did rob a rocket from Elon musk then you'd be looking at being squished by immense gravitational pressure and/or being burnt to a crisp before succeeding with that task). The best we could offer on a standard February day in Yorkshire was some softishhhh diffused afternoon light from't office under' studio. πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Turned out to be really rather niceeeee actually: since Andy and me-sen had indeed talked about the use of natural light for a possible series of monochrome edgy snaps (it started well pretentious that line didn't it... Then it was just like: "snapz boi!" πŸ€ͺ) with a darker/erotic style - well, the setting worked perfectly innit! So that is what we did - threw shapes around the joint in an office setting, taking the odd moment to hide mi foo-foo behind a tree (art darling!) It was a foto frolicking of crazy sorts (I had kinda anticipated it to be fair, and when the epic rapport says so - y'all just go with the flow! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ) Long story short - that series developed with impeccable moodiness and extended limb extravaganza, and as things then evolved in a most positively bizarre fashion cleverly utilising a combination of what outsiders call "digital" photography and Polaroid snaparoony shenanigans (we only just stopped inscribing things on rocks in Yorkshire a few years ago... One step at a time eh?!) We eventually reach a point in time where a bog had been straddled, and dear Minni Mouse was chained to the kitchen sink. It all made perfect logical sense at the time, and I'm sure it fit into the larger extended grandeur plan of convincing the rest of the world of the greatness of Yorkshire! Tbf, if all else fails - we got some pretty shit-hot pics down int' office. πŸ˜… Yup, I'll give Andy his due; he knows how to make available light dance like the chicks down the Acca on a Saturday night. Clever A.F. use of angles too... Dem shots look totes different to owt' else that's ever been taken in that premises! The poor plant and the coffee table might never be the same again mind you. πŸ™ˆ As the team dragged themselves back upt' stairs, Andy would be presented by the finest offerings of Keiraland. I felt he was ready for the ultimate encounter, Andy was ready to meet my shaft! For it was famous within or tight-knit community, and renowned with a NOTORIOUS reputation!!! πŸ™Š We took things slowly, Andy proceeded in making efforts to embrace the shaft in all it's wonder... Although I fear his true feelings were that it was not very well kept at that moment in time, and perhaps he had been mislead with other victims (ahem - photographers!) showing off their picture evidence of my shaft. It was also in a slightly different position of elevation before I guess, furthermore: as mentioned earlier - angles are everything! πŸ˜‰ Bless Andy's soul though: for despite the embarrassing messy shaft situ, he approached the matter with great sensitivity and did indeed produce some typically BOSS images whereby I took the liberty of dangling from my own shaft - living ones best shaft life! Andy was obliged to snap away at that equipment, faster than you can say: "SHAFTED!" 😜

Andy's Yorkshire adventure chapter 3

The studio finale!!!!!! Alas: we did finally get around to pursuing our own take on the themed Valentines set in the studio side of tings. After all: it was the reet time o' year fur it' and t'was my very goal to invite photographers with prosperous styles of shooting to evoke the feelz of my assembly of ashittonneofheartsm8! ❀ Keeping to the theme of the moody/suggestive/biatch vibes - Andy took on the Valentines beast with imperial monochrome force!!! It didn't know what had hit it; there it was, preaching it's shades of red and pink down the throats of unsuspecting photographers... Well our man marched right on in there and told it what for! Av that black n' white dropkick you themed set you! And myyyyyyyyyy did it look snazzy! πŸ‘€ The contrast, the tones, the depth of field - who are ya Mr Valentine?!?! Av it bro! πŸ‘Š When things calmed down a notch (and the last of the sun took it's bat n' ball home) it turns out we did actually dabble a bit in the colour side of things and played the artificial light game! Ooooooooh, fancy! Andy did it again - TOTES different to owt' else that had been shot in the sets as the week had progressed. He definitely rolling around on the floor... But HEY! I ain't complaining, it's soooooo nice to see a photographer floor it from time to time so that you end up looking 6 inches tall (as opposed to 5 inches! πŸ˜‚) Yer mans got a great eye for a piccie - take it from mee fellow modalz! 🀩 I think this was the part where the majority of my props met some pretty violent dooms... Just as well it was towards the end of the week shooting the set! 🀣 But when you start chucking out the freaky-as-can-be poses and goin' a bit nuts, in my professional scientific opinion - the more you appear to have lost it, the better one's rapport with their fellow creative has developed! πŸ˜… Coz you is like: "oh aye, this guys cool with a bit of mental posing and actually does cool things with it... Imma just give him crazy Lavelle level 10 then!" So it 100% absolutely is a sign of a good shoot the more nuts things go. πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

So here we wrap it up! Mr. AndyH1's quest is concluded! He is now an official convert to Yorkshire awesomeness and welcome back any time! 😁 In other words: he's a leg-end who is just the right amount of the good kind of crazy for successful shooty stuffs. 😊 Pro as can bee in approach, he tackled Yorkshire with both hands and brought bucket loads of fantabulous photography spirit with him... (Who knows, this digital thing may catch on in Yorkshire!) We babbled on pretty much non-stop so we did, (it was planned pretty last minute so I couldn't find a translator in time for Andy, but half of my rambling is nonsense anyway - so if people don't nod politely because they dunno wtf I'm saying then its defo because I just chat shit non-stop! 🀣) This gent certainly came across as a very nice man anyway, good humour, so laid back he's pretty much horizontal, not one of them dodgy characters (like the types found in Lancashire!) Just a top banana really. πŸ˜ƒ We normally pop outsiders on a big camp fire and dance around chanting so they don't get away and tell the rest of the UK how weird we are here... But this one was free to go - mainly cuz I dint mind working with him again, and I wanted to see the finished piccies! πŸ˜†

BIGSUPERMAHOOSIVEYORKSHIRERECOMMENDATION!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget the meditation chant I taught you Andy... πŸ˜€

Had such a fun filled shoot with Andy. I had not seen him in over 10 years so was lovely to finally meet up again. Andy came fully prepared to the shoot and even brought so many cool giant mask heads and strappy outfits to wear on the shoot which was a super added bonus.

Andy was very happy to listen to my ideas as well as throw his own into the mix. We got so many cool shots and I really do hope to model for Andy again (this time not 10 years later hehe)

Woop woop - last shoot of the year - and with this awsome person , profesional and down to earth guy - Andy .

We shot first time together - though throughout the day we realised we have seen each other before.

Andy arrived very prepared - also some nice treats to were for shoot - and I really enjoyed shooting in leather style boots .

We first started outside - but snow disappeared too quickly , we headed back to my home studio to create some fab Newton style leather images , as well as worked around kitchen area .

Time just flew by - set after set and booom - it was already afternoon .

The amount of great images - I’m still struggling to choose my fav - indeed amazing framings, also perfect attitude on shoot - directions given when and if needed .

I couldn’t fault Andy anyhow - he is indeed amazing - and thank you so much for relaxed shoot .

Regards and hoping I’m gonna work with Andy very soon .

Bloody love shooting with Andy!

He's such a laugh, open to my crazy ideas and is good fun to be around!

Andy joined myself and Christian Red for our third "Shooting Shibari" workshop this weekend.

The workshop consisted of three main parts: set-up / posed rope shots as both static and suspension based transitions, a hands-on education on tying basic patterns and structures and finally a performance set up to be documented. The aim of the workshop was to challenge totally different and contrasting styles of photography all of which Andy threw himself into and I have no doubts that he captured some fab shots - I can't wait to see them properly! He's a great photographer!

I was also very impressed by Andy's attitude towards trying new things, especially when it came to learning to tie. He was up for trying everything, giving it a go and working on improving what he'd learnt.

I love shooting with Andy and i'm super excited to see the images from the day! (also, very highly recommend shooting with him if you get the opportunity!)

Thank you!

Scarlot :)

I met Andy for the first time this week in VEGAS on a Summers Abroad trip with Rachelle Summers. I knew he was going to be a handful from the first chat and I wasn't wrong :P (but in all the best ways!) We had such a great laugh this week and Andy was full of witty and cheesy and all round terrible humour that never ended from sunrise to sunset. I honestly haven't enjoyed a shoot as much as these last few days and i'm left with an aching belly from all the laughs!

Andy's photography is ace! He's super chill about adapting to any location and brings a style that made me feel super sexy and confident in whatever we were doing, whether it was wearing a giant panda head on the loo or posing in a beautiful artistic landscape. I seriously cannot wait to see his final images from the trip and am buzzing from the whole experience!

Andy also took a whole bunch of polaroids that were an amazing addition to the trip and captured the vibe perfectly!

I'm leaving this week feeling super inspired, motivated and full of love for what I do, plus feeling super super privileged for the experience and proud of what we created!

Highly recommend Andy to others and hope to work together again!

Thanks again for a bonkers time!

Met Andy on the second group on the recent Summers Abroad trip to Las Vegas. He has that sense of humour that will make you laugh till you have a coughing fit and has lots of ideas (and even kindly lent me a Panda head costume during one of the villa sessions for the models Rachelle and Nicole). Love that he just doesn't shoot digital, but also shoots polaroids to give that vintage feel to shots, an great knowledge of the cameras and their films.

Hopefully our paths will cross again on another trip.
