Lotus

The lotus has a special place in Buddhist culture. It's one of the most prominent symbols - it signifies the emergent beauty from nothingness, because the lotus flower grows from the mud. So even though "hope" is a difficult concept in Buddhism (it detaches you from the present) it is, I feel a motif of consolation.

As a practice, the full lotus position is a tough one. Many people have difficulty getting into the pose fully, which is fine. Each image in my album shows a version of the lotus position that is particular to not only the person performing it, but also the exact moment, always fleeting.
