Not a Pity Post

Huw same and I never expect a response to comments I make, I've never actually had that mindset that someone isn't worth working with because they didn't reply I just assume they are busy. I would be more worried if I sent someone a message and was ignored, that is a different kettle of fish. I'm a bit baffled by that.

Hoping no one locks this post because of one persons opinions as it has taken me a long time to put it together and I really value everyone's comments that have been constructive and helpful.

I've just updated my notes making them much clearer and also my rates and a explanation of them, hopefully this reads much better now and is more encouraging for photographers to book me.

A couple of suggestions if I may?

  • The wording "I have 2 options when you book a shoot with me" could be taken as meaning they are the ONLY two options - you either shoot me at my house or at the studio, that's it.  You've mentioned many local locations in this thread for example, but there's nothing about that in your notes.  It almost sounds as though you're trying to dictate where you're prepared to be shot - I know you aren't, but ...
  • Noting the comments above about some photographers being frightened of shooting an experienced model who's also a photographer, perhaps some words about being happy to work with photographers of all levels might be helpful, too.  May be even "I don't bite"!

I hope that helps?

I've now updated my notes to include all of the options I offer including the locations I can provide, my rates for home and local shoots plus tour and studio day rates and also what else I can do and won't do.

I've included a completely natural bare faced image in my notes so people can see what they have to work with.

I've also included a statement regarding photographers not being put off working with me because of my experience (this is due to several comments in the thread where people would be put off because I have knowledge of lighting and photography).

I have also included a up to date list of upcoming tours and studio days and availability.

I hope these are now clearer and more concise.

Evie Kedavra agreed, I rarely post in the groups/forum discussions for this very reason

Clara Sinclair I can take it on the chin, I feel like some of the comments have been un warranted but I won't let it deter me from posting, in fact is spurs me on to keep putting my opinions out there. I just don't understand why people are so petty and negative without any need for it. The advice I've recieved has been amazing and Barr the odd one or two strange comments it's been quite uplifting so please don't let these few negative people prevent you from posting, that's what this is here for xxxx

One minor niggle - you've written "travle to you" rather than "travel to you", but otherwise bang on, in my humble opinion.  :-)

Ah the ADHD strikes again, I was hyper focused earlier so I didn't notice I'll amend that now

The immediate thing which would stop me messaging you to enquire/book would be your rates not being on your portfolio. I know this is the same for some others too.

I appriciate you saying it varies depending on some factors but for me there's nothing more awkward than discussing then finding out it's out my budget!

All amended and I hope they are clear xxx

@vishpateluk thank you I will look at re ordering the images I just had read photographers tend to look at the first 20 so tried to make my first 3 or 4 lines of images my best and bold work.

I'll address the fonts now and also add a link to my album of home as I've recently redecorated so people can see the lovely space to use.

I'll include casting links to tours and events.

I do have a small garden however I have 2 miles of fields behind it i tend to use so I'll.also include that.

I'll re look at my rates my math isnt the best

Thanks for the positive feedback it really helps.

Once I've addressed the above I'll donsome new castings x

@vishpateluk my tour rates depend on where I'm going and what we have booked for example if I have to travel to say Cornwall I need to factor in costs to get there which could be 200 in diesel and say I found a super cheap bb or hostel at 30 a night that is 290 costs before I have started. For somewhere of this distance I would need 5 good shoots to cover my costs and earn a living. As a usual shoot is 4 hours or less I would usually set my rate to 50ph this is a flat rate that covers everything I don't charge extra for fuel during a tour as its too hard to work out so I charge one rate that includes everything. That way if I was shooting with one person alone I couldn't expect them to cover my fuel accommodation and shoot rate as that would be over 500 quid. That's why I state all tours rates are different because it depends where I am, if I'm in Birmingham they are much the same as home unless I am booking a beautiful venue to shoot in then I adjust to cover the venue if I'm travelling to Scotland or way down south I again have to adjust them to cover my travelling costs and if needed accommodation. I do try to stay with model and photographer friends where possible to keep the costs efficient but if I'm booking a venue like a fetish club or a period hotel to use this is reflected in the hourly rate on that particular casting

I hope that makes more sense. I will adjust notes to reflect this shortly

I've rearranged my images I to what I feel I the best order

I like to keep people intrigued and to keep wanting to see the next picture so I've tried to keep it diverse as possible

Good afternoon. Obviously take my comments with a pinch of salt but I would say it varies. There are a lot of photographers who live on Purpleport and probably they entire days or evenings perusing threads or uploads. I would say if you primarily shoot with hobbyists who shoot glamour/nakey I'm sure they will be hunting through your entire portfolio rather just glancing at a handful of images but that's just me. I would say focus on quality over quantity and keep the newest images at the top which showcase your current hair etc. I like glancing through a models portfolio and being able to see growth whether it be a posing ability, expressions or just doing more creative shoots. Also, for me if a models portfolio is more striking with fewer images and more diversity to me it shows attention to detail which for me is a sign of a great model.

@vishpateluk this is My full time dream job and is my living and a huge majority of my life. I shoot with all types of photographers and feel my images are strong diverse and great quality and show me in the best light.whether you feel I am a great model or not is your own personal opinion but thanks for the feedback
