Hi I am relatively new to PP. I use Lightroom & Photoshop but am far from an expert. Always happy to learn and help others where I can.

Hi, i'm new to photography and therefore new to editing, at the moment all I'm using is macs in-house photo editing which is of course ridiculously basic. I'm no techie at all, in fact I've realised i'm a bit thick...lol! I'm wanting to get a good editing programme(maybe Santa will be kind) and see that people use Photo shop(different versions) Lightbox, Gimp etc., What would people recommend I ask "santa" to bring me. At the moment i'm photographing portrait and nudes and people in general, I'm not that interested in landscapes. My photos look good(i think) but then when I look at others edited pics I realise how low down the pecking order I am, any advice would be really appreciated.

Hello,
Thank you so much to whomever invited me to the group :) I'd figured there must be something like this on the site but never came across it. Cannot wait to dive in and begin reading posts. It'll be magic to have the chance to asks questions and get replies from others further along with practice and experience.

New kid on the block, I'm used to editing landscapes - but editing faces requires bit more effort - so happy to learn. Although, I'm tempted to just pay someone to do it for me - but I won't. Unless they provide me with an overview of the process :-)

Ha
Editing faces is dependant on what you want to do. Each image has it's own requirements. I can guide you through various simple procedures

Thanks, I have actually created new post - asking for anyone who wants to share their workflows - which helps everyone to learn and comment on them. Hopefully helping the person sharing the workflow.

Hi all! I'm Laura, a model but I like to learn editing for my own pleasure and it's always good to know in case a photographer self-professes that they are't great at editing. I wanted to be a graphic designer when I was younger so it's also a spin-off from that. I use Photoshop CS6.

hiya everyone,
I've been taking pics for a long time now, since film.
I've been editing them in the digital age, although i used to wet-print my own black and white (darkroom in the bedroom!) and invented my own multi-zone technique using ilford multi-grade.
I use lightroom for most of my editing, but I do go to photoshop CC for tricky areas (the clone and patch tools are more diverse) and the smoothing/sharpening is better in photoshop than lightroom.
I prefer the digital age, I can control my images so much more and be far more creative.
I do find photoshop a bit obscure and unhelpful, and lightroom is definately my favourite.
I am learning all the time, and I hope I am improving.

Log on to YouTube and check out the channels of PHLEARN and PIXImperfect. Great advice for beginners and those with more experience.
There are tons of resources out there to help you learn, but these two channels would be a great place to start your search.

Hi everybody,
I started off photo editing using lightroom but eventually bit the bullet and moved on to photoshop CC, once I had found a good source of teaching material. I find I get almost as much pleasure from editing an image as I do from taking it with all the seemingly endless possibilities there are these days. I'm looking forward to learning a lot more from all the threads in this group.
