Fibroid Journey and Adjusting as I model

Hi everyone,

I wanted to open up about a personal challenge I’ve been facing as a model. I was diagnosed with a large fibroid (the size of a grapefruit) on the outer back wall of my uterus. This has impacted me in ways I didn’t expect, especially during photoshoots.

the fibroid caused me to look larger than I actually was, making it difficult to pose comfortably—especially when trying to keep my tummy in for certain shots. It has affected my confidence in modelling, particularly for art nude work, which I’ve decided not to pursue right now.

I’d love to hear from others who might have faced similar challenges or any tips on embracing your body during health-related changes. How have you navigated such issues while staying true to yourself as a model?

Thanks in advance for your support and insights!

I too have a fibroid size of an apple which causes all sorts of shenanigans (will not go into

detail). Non inflammatory diet, low stress, very little alcohol and exercise is key. Mine doesn't interfere with nude modeling (unless you're looking for a model with washboard abs which then I'm not your girl). Fibroids dissapear with menopause as they feed on oestrogen.

I wasn’t going to reply, but nobody else has….

Couple of family members have had the same problem.

Surgery pretty much sorted it, but pretty unpleasant while waiting. My sympathy.

As far as the modelling goes, it’s just something to work around. Try not to let it put you off.

Thank you for reaching out. Women go through so much, and dealing with health challenges on top of that makes it even harder. I’m 32, so waiting for menopause isn’t really an option for me . I completely agree about the importance of an anti-inflammatory diet—it’s Modeling with fibroids has definitely been challenging at times, but I’m learning to navigate it. Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s comforting to connect with someone who understands ❤️

I have a small fibroid at the top of my womb, its doesn't really cause issues at the moment but it did a couple of years back, in conjunction with being on the depo contraceptive injection which cause horrendous bleeding. I'd never experienced periods like it, clots bigger than my hand and it left me severely anemic. Luckily I am not having the depo shots anymore and my fibroid doesn't need any treatment, things have calmed down sooooo much

You'll seek advice from your own medical attendants which will depend on your future plans*, current disturbance, and the exact arrangement of the fibroid.

But, embolization of a fibroid - feeding a thin tube up a leg artery and fiddling it's tip into the single arterial branch to the fibroid and to nothing else, and then putting metal coils, gel, foam, polyfilla into that artery will cause the fibroid to die off and shrink.

Not all are suitable, the procedure is not free of risk any more than is classic surgery, and it should be done by someone who has done lots of that sort of thing or under their supervision. It isn't necessarily less uncomfortable than surgery afterwards, but leaves less of a wound.

This is information rather than advice.

* as related to your uterus.
