A consequence of removal rather than conservation, if that were possible, is bone resorption leading to weakening. That's more relevant to the lower jaw.
Dentistry is one of the things I don't do.

Unfortunately the previous dentistry group decayed over time and everyone decided to extract themselves from it. As a consequence all dentistry related topics have to be posted in the General Off Topic group to get to the root of any such questions! Normally members have to post before 2.30pm to get a pain free response! I see you have recently joined but it won't be ages before you too are a bit long in the tooth and you'll be posting medical questions in the General Off Topic forum too! :-)

So, go to your local dental hospital, they'll sort it for free. Need to ring 111 to book an appointment.
Saves paying extortionate dentist fees! I go to one in Newcastle.
