10 hour drive music suggestions

Genuinely, I need music suggestions

I've asked this before but I have had to change my music provider from Amazon Music to Spotify because of an issue with billing and I have about 10 hours of driving to do over this weekend so my playlist is bare and Spotify playlists do not encompass my eclectic music tastes

So suggestions on a post card please! Help me rediscover some classics, find something new, just please no Disney songs or Michael Jackson!

I literally listen to anything from Arctic Monkeys to Patsy Cline to Simeon Mobile Disco to Billie Eilish to Powerwolf

Thank you!

A ten hour drive you say? There's a Youtube channel that could be right up your street:

Meatloaf, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Bachman Turner Overdrive.

That should drop the drive time by an hour or so.

;)

Good gracious. You must be nearly as old as me. :)

[Indeed, I've seen Zeppelin, Sabbath and Hawkwind. :)]

I feel your pain. Back in the late 90s early 00s I was a massive progressive/trance head. As time (decades) went by I realised out of all the 'commercial' mix CDs and what not that ever came about there was always tracks on them I hated and for the most part a lot of them had all the same stuff on, loads of great underground tracks were missed off. So with a bit of software and some naughty downloading of some tracks via Youtube (most of these tracks were originally only ever available on vinyl) I made my own mix. As I collated tracks for the mix it got bigger and bigger. To cut a long story short I have a 50 hour (yes 50 hours) 'mix tape' of all my favourite tracks from that era. No car journey is ever the same. The major issue was playing the mix constantly from wherever it was I left off. Thankfully I have a Plex server and a Plex pass so this was easily navigated.

Anyway not helpful, but I thought I would share how I resolved a long standing problem for myself.

Lucky devil.

Closest I got to those was listening to the first Isle of Wight festival from my bedroom window about two miles away. The island came very close to running out of drinking water that time because of the extra people.

I did get to see Meatloaf live on his first trip to the UK.

Classic or classical?  For a long trip, I often use a playlist starting with a Radio 3 Podcast of Record Review.  This reviews many recordings of a single piece of music.  I follow this with as many of my own recordings as I can.  For some pieces, this can be a lot.  Probably no one piece would get to 10 hours but many can get to multiple hours.  It is rare that I drive more than that but, if I did, I might just follow with more of the same.

Whole albums to try:

Light Chasers by Cloud Cult. This is the album that has the terrifyingly wonderful (There's So Much) Energy In Us, which is a massive emotional thing. You have to give this time to grow on you; it's a monster.

Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats. Debut album by band of same name, absolutely outstanding.

Animal Joy by Shearwater. Vocalist has a foghorn of a voice but this is a total belter of an album; may be an acquired taste.

A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy. The big orchestral album; truly a wonder. Though any Divine Comedy album from that era is worth a go. Casanova for example.

Fantasies by Metric. This album has BlindnessHelp I'm Alive etc., on it -- but they are all anthems

Collxtion (both volumes, and II) by Allie X. So, so many great tunes.

Zanaka by Jain. French/African electropop. Lovely.
