Psycho YT Photographer - advice needed.

You Tube do take notice of appeals.  I watch a lot of anti-scientology videos and scientology are forever filing false copyright claims (even to the point of live streamers having the music from scientology HQ on their video just from walking past the place) and the protesters usually win in the end and get their content put back up.

You poked the fire and got burnt. You surely knew before posting that there would be blowback.

It would be good to get context as to what was actually said by the OP. I wonder if there's a bit more to this.

Can I just clarify something here? Not that I’m some YouTube mogul or anything—seriously, I mean, I watch a few videos but haven’t turned it into a side hustle or busness project.

So, we’ve got this person with a business YouTube channel, where she—shocker—promotes herself as the best photographer. Makes sense, right? I mean, if you were a dog walker, you wouldn’t pay for advertising space to say, ‘By the way, that other dog walker down the road? Way better than me!’ So she uses her platform to, you know, market herself. Like people do.

And then you—a photographer presumably with your own YouTube channel, presumably for business as you do state here on your channel that you are a professional so fair conclusion —decided to grace her channel with a comment, telling her audience she wasn’t the best. Right there, for her followers and potential clients to see. Was the plan for them to take one look at you and go, ‘Yes! Finally, an anti-fan! Take my business!’?

Now, for some truly mysterious reason that not even Sherlock could solve, she’s
upset. And now, you want to help promote her outside of YouTube? Honestly, I’m a little lost here. I’m not condoning her reaction, but why exactly did you feel the need to drop an unsolicited critique on her business channel? I mean, NescafĂ© has ‘the best coffee’ slapped all over their jars, and yet I don’t feel an urge to run out there, megaphone in hand, to inform the public otherwise. People can make their own minds up, can’t they? And if her channel wasn’t doing it for you, couldn’t you have just
unfollowed?

Or am i just not understanding how YouTube works..... hmmm

Not much to disagree with there. If I see an image I like, on this or any other platform, I say so but if I don't like an image I say nothing.

RaphaelPhoto ok my mistake in my day a professional photographer publically slating another professional photographer ie “ calling them shit” was frowned apon as bad business , must be a new trend I don’t know about.

"Calling them shit" is what I would have personally done, because I don't give a damn and I am not a professional photographer in the first place.
I have no doubt that Northstar here didn't do it that way, and I quote his own words: "I commented that I disagreed with her", which is perfectly fine.

And she responded to his comment, which is also perfectly fine.

A viewer saying someone is rubbish is one thing, but another business channel doing it is not the same. Imagine if a model had a YouTube channel, as I know a few do, and then another model with a YouTube channel publicly commented on theirs, saying the other was shit. It’s unprofessional and just bad business. End of. The OP went on, signed in as his professional photography business channel, which is how she clearly knew who he was—so that’s not just a viewer giving critique; it’s one business trying to damage another. That’s how it seems to me, unless she already knew him, in which case things would be even murkier.

Advice!

Move on, don’t respond don’t give her the air time. Have a beer and chill. Life is too short for YT drama with a nut job

Thankyou for the help, I would just like to clarify that I didn't offer any unsolicited critique of her images.  I simply asked her why someone claiming to be the best  doesn't pay any attention to the focus / lighting etc in her video.

Can I also clarify that she doesn't have a business channel.  She is simply someone with a very basic smugmug page selling her images of landscapes, butterfly's, birds and a few buildings etc.

My frustration is that You tube doesn't offer a way of speaking to a person either by phone, mail or online chat to report this type of activity.

And you're surprised that you got a reaction?

I got a fish and chips shop in my neighbourhood with a neon sign on their window stating “best fish and chips in town!”. The OP has given me a great idea: I’m going to walk inside the shop tomorrow at lunch time (when it’s packed) and yell very loud at the owner: “ Liar! you are not the best chippie in town! Fact is your food is shit!” Then I’m going to walk out of the store.

Genius.

There are fifty-one million youtube channels.

There are over five million false DMCA claims on youtube alone every year.

How could they possibly deal with all these complaints in person, when much, much worse stuff is happening on Youtube than this -- videos of violent crime, house-breaking, incitement to hatred, financial crime, doxxing?

Work through the process, and try not to get dragged into it any further.

By making false copyright claims on his videos? It's not I am sorry.

When you pick a fight with someone you can't control how they choose to fight back. It's perfectly reasonable to question YouTube rules regarding copyright but it would seem that the OP's opponent has simply chosen a weapon that was available to her.

Where did OP mentioned anything about "professional" or "business channel"?
She knew who he was simply because you just have to click to the comment author's name to be directed to his channel, just like here, it's nothing to do with professional photography in any way.
Look, I will make it very simple, I don't care if you are a professional, the pope or whatever, if you come publicly claiming that you are the best photographer in the UK, you'd better back it up with the material because if you don't, I will have no problem to trash you big time. You don't want that? You don't make these claims, it's very easy, it's called taking accountability for your actions and words.

No one can prove they are the "best" anything in the absence of objective tests and art is subjective.
