m71 I’d argue against that every day of the year. The quality of the filming, maybe, but the writing and the guys in it? Still amazing…

Likewise with Bottom. Not as much with Catflap though

Filthy Rich and Catflap had one of the best ever dirty jokes. After a sequence of (as usual in sitcoms) unlikely things happening some of the characters find themselves stuck in the Nolan Sisters' dressing room. One remarks,"Wow my favourite three-tissue fantasy. I am stuck in the Nolan Sisters' dressing room."

The Magic Roundabout was awesome. Apparently the films were sent over from France with no translation. So the chap who did the voice-over made up the story from what he was seeing. Sometimes this resulted in two stories at the same time.

My favourite line was when Dougal the dog approached Dylan the rabbit (snoozing under a tree) and said, "I thought rabbits were meant to be running about and jumping and stuff."
To which he got the answer, "Like, we're re-thinking the image, man." !!!

It fascinating how much stuff is available on DVD from then and earlier. Look on Amazon.

Tripods for Sci Fi (along with as someone else mentioned) Survivors starring the inestimable Carolyn Seymour.

Manhunt (if I’m allowed a ‘long seventies’ as it was 1969) a great French Resistance series until Allo Allo put paid to them all.

The Old Grey Whistle Test for music, still unbeatable for great music combined with overweening pomposity.

I got my modern martial fix from Colditz and my ancient from Arthur of the Britons.

For my crime it was The Rockford Files …….…

………and for my fix of Cattle Persons and Native Americans it was Alias (NOT Alas) Smith and Jones.

Tripods wasn't strictly 70's it was 1984, I know because I worked on it! Shame they didn't finish it (they only filmed the first two books out of the trilogy)

I did ask for consideration for  a ‘long seventies’ …lol.  But seriously I thought it was great and was so bummed when it finished so abruptly.  Interestingly ‘Survivors’ also went down hill after series one.  Seemingly Carolyn Seymour left because she was unhappy about where her character and the series were going. Shame.

I do remember that, but haven't seen it for years! Was very late to the party, having to track down a DVD of it in the mid-2000s. Well worth the watch though.
