1970s - Have we changed ? Or Has Culture Changed ? Or Both ?

How can nobody mention The Avengers! No not those American Cosplayers. The original John Steed With Honour Blackman and later Diana Rigg. Sadly never quite the same after they introduced ‘Mother’ and that wallflower who played next to Joanna Lumley. They still work today too.
Others I can recall like Steptoe and Son, It Aint half Hot Mum and To Death Us Do Part I feel were of their age.
I recall watching something called Sapphire and Steel avidly but for the life of me could not remember anything from that series
There was Simon Templar as The Saint of course.
As to the original question yes to both. Thankfully too those of us from that generation we were allowed to change, we used to call it growing up, and quietly let our youthful indiscretions and poorly thought through beliefs behind. One of the great tragedies of todays world where everything is done online is that the current generations no longer have this mercy. A typical rash comment or actions when young can destroy your life decades later even when it was acceptable, even normal at the time

Perhaps nobody mentioned The Avengers because it was a 1960s series, as was The Saint.

I remember this episode of "Stay Lucky" like it was yesterday, it was around 1990, the photoshoot was memorable :)

MASH still stands up incredibly I think. Particularly if you can find it without the laugh tracks bolted on.

How about "The Survivors" from 1973, about a flu like virus that was developed in a Chinese lab and got out, was spread throughout the world by jet travel and ended up wiping out most of the world population. A somewhat prophetic! series that explored how interconnected civilization was and how difficult it is to know enough about how things work in our society today.

A Clockwork Orange was way ahead of it's time. Emmanuelle was another interesting film, showing a view of a different culture and way of life.

I recently watched "Yes, Minister".... It made me realise that some things haven't changed a lot!

Hong Kong Phooey - poor/simplistic animation but clever humour and an excellent voice cast led by Scatman Crothers of The Shining and the Aristocats fame.

The funny thing about watching TV from the Seventies is that I have no need of the subtitles, which I routinely apply on any DVD made after 1990.

A copy of that must have been on Donald Trump's VHS collection

m71 I’d argue against that every day of the year. The quality of the filming, maybe, but the writing and the guys in it? Still amazing…
Likewise with Bottom. Not as much with Catflap though

No. The shows are just as shit today, it’s just that the TVs have gotten bigger
