How YOU can help Ukraine

Hello everyone,

Just watching the news breaks my heart! It’s terrible what’s happening in Ukraine now. People are dying on the streets, not enough food or water, they can’t leave the houses to go to any shops because of the attacks that are happening everywhere.

Now to the stuff you don’t see on the news.

People are trying to cross the border to Moldova, there’s a huge line of cars and it’s not moving at all, people haven’t slept for over a week, and they don’t have anything with them. A few people died while waiting. People in Moldova are very poor, they help how they can but there’s simply not enough food, clothes, first aid kits for everybody.

I did some research and

Here’s what you can do to help:

- You can donate essential items for Ukraine, the full list is on this Facebook page, they have collection points all over the UK. You don’t even need boxes they accept items in bags https://www.facebook.com/groups/645441263448017/?ref=share

They also accept donations. If you have any questions contact them directly, I’m just spreading the word.

- For the Ukrainian people that are in Moldova there’s this charity that accepts donations. They supply a place to stay, warm food daily, water, first aids, baby food/nappies etc. this is all done by volunteers. If you need any help with translation let me know.

https://caritas.md/ro/donation (they have over 50 volunteers at the moment helping the Ukrainians, Caritas is a charity that’s all over the world they help everybody in need you can be sure that your full donation will go to the Ukrainians)

https://www.childrenontheedge.org/latest-stories/supporting-ukrainian-refugee-families-in-moldova-and-romania (I don’t know much about this organisation so please do some more research before donating)

If you know of any other way of helping these people in need feel free to comment.

I just hope this will all end soon :( it’s so tough on everybody there. Let’s all help how we can!

Peace to all

Are you Ukrainian Coco?

Thank you Coco Tiger

I have a personal interest in this because my wife is Hungarian and her family is still in Hungary - which borders Ukraine. The fear there is that the fighting could spill across the border. We are making provisional plans to get them out. This comes on top of the prolonged misery of brexit, which of course will complicate any rescue enormously. To make matters even worse, it seems that Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán can't make up his mind which side he is on. And those who know their history will doubtless recall that there is quite a lot of history between Hungary and Russia.

Meantime for those keen to know what's going on, as it happens, might find these links helpful. The English language Kyiv Independent (nothing to do with the British one)...

Illia Ponomarenko's various analyses give a good overview of the lead-up to war, for those who are interested in the background to this horrific situation...

All the above links are in English. NB. You might encounter a Cloudflare "Checking your browser..." message. It seems the site is (or has been) under a fairly sustained DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack. Please be patient. The message goes away after a few seconds, once Cloudflare determines you are a pukka user, not some Russian bot. :-)
