That’s hilarious! I live a few stops down on the train line to Ebbw Vale and I struggle to understand commuters

- Posh english accent (that talk without hardly moving your lips).
-Spaniards talking English(mine is quite subtle, but you can distinguish us from a mile away).
-Irish accent from phone company help center staff (I can't understand anything they say, but me thinks it's done on purpose).
-East Londoners trying to be cool (help me!)
Someone told me once that Microsoft (IIRC) found that British customers were less likely to get angry on the calls routed to their irish (republic) help centres. We are charmed and relaxed by irish accents (especially from women) and more likely to keep our cool.

It’s a fantastic accent, and extremely localised it would seem.
We are really lucky to have all these accents.

Scouse is my least favourite. I love a soft southern Irish accent.

The worst accent have I ever heard was from a French man (from southern France) who had lived for many years in Glasgow. Unfortunately he seemed to have kept the worst elements of both accents & on a good day I might have understood about a third of what he said!

My mother-in-law had a german/black country cross mix, which was quite amusing at times .

I use to live in Wales and the accent use to be taken the mick out of. However it became sexy after LOTR when the language/accent was associated with the Elves.
What suprise me is how some local people born and bred in Liverpool, even amongst my own small circle of friends, would choose to adopt a different southern or London accent, sometime completely unnecessary.
There is also a quite well known former child actress born and raised in Liverpool but have not a single Scouse accent and along with a double barrelled surname its seems almost manfuactured for international stardom but unless people are kept wrapped in cotton wool how do they not get an accent?

I got chatting to a girl from Cork many years ago, the second I heard her accent I fell in love.

Back in the days when I used to fly planes, I once flew into Birmingham International. The crew van came to pick us up and the driver attempted to make small talk on the way to the terminal. He had such a strong Brummie accent that I couldn’t understand a word he said - it sounded great, but my brain couldn’t process it. :)

I don't really have favorites, but I do dislike the phony accents. Country singers are my least favorite!
