Cornwall Restaurant Recommendations

My partner and I will be in Cornwall at the beginning of October and it also coincides with our second anniversary. We are looking for some recommendations for good places to dine out. Priority is quality of food, ambiance and decor in that order. We have a wide taste in food and budget is not an issue. The person that provides the best recommendation will be eligible for discount rates :P

Thank you x

I've heard that Scott & Babs near Newquay is rather different and rather good. It's on my list for when I'm in Cornwall again next month.

The Mill House at Trebarwith (not far from Tintagel) was very, very good when I was last there, but that was a couple of years ago when the new restaurant had just opened.

Or there are a couple of Rick Stein establishments in Padstow.

Where about in Cornwall?

Few nice places, The Mermaid in St Ives, and there was one on a side street off the front that was tiny and upstairs but really cute and romantic, I just can't remember what it was called or if it's still there! In The Lizard there is The Witch Ball which is a really nice but and fresh seafood etc (also been there on steak night and it was amazing!).

Jamaica Inn for the atmosphere 100% we also go there for a meal and sometimes a night before heading further on.

Lizard Point - not sure what this place is like in the evening, but the lunches are excellent and the location is pretty damn good as well: https://www.google.co.uk/search?biw=1366&bih=625&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=a8VRXZKWJ6aQlwSV1b24Cw&q=lizard+cornwall+cafe&oq=lizard+cornwall+cafe&gs_l=img.3..0i24.4437.6449..9368...0.0..0.445.1064.7j1j4-1......0....1..gws-wiz-img.......0i8i7i30.-fGazUFvtJM&ved=0ahUKEwjS95bVj_7jAhUmyIUKHZVqD7cQ4dUDCAY&uact=5#imgrc=jcIUHqFC64PSHM:

The mill House is not what it used to be. my last meal of Plaice thhat I had there 2 years ago was truly awful. Still a great pub though although I would rather watch the sunset at the Port William.

Sorry to hear that about the Mill House, but thanks for setting the record straight. :(

Port William - not overwhelmed by the food there, but it's a belter of a location!

Orson Carter I can't say what it is like now but i agree about the Port William. Dream location and good beer but they change their chef as often as I change my underwear so the food has varied a great deal over the last few years.

Back to the OP  .... Ben's in Marazion was exceptional. More than a meal it was a culinary experience... a rare brush with fine dining for me.

Also.... at Newquay there is a brilliant seafood restraunt behind the harbour. Absolutely no frills but it is hard to imagine better seafood.

I have never been to Nathan Outlaw's at Port Isaac because I can't afford it but if money is no object it would be worth a punt.

It's a big place Cornwall, depends what you're after and where you are based. If you're driving down and are looking for a evening meal, you might want to look at this (it's a bit secretive but the locals love it - https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g2138829-d12691928-Reviews-Scholars_Restaurant_Wine_Bar-Saint_Germans_Cornwall_England.html?m=19905

Lunch at the 'Blue Bar' is always worth a look. A very cool place with one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall at your feet.

Sooooo, it might be a little later to book the Scott & Babs by the time you've written up your review but do let us know what it's like ;)

We haven't decided where to stay yet, still looking around but we are planning to travel around most of Cornwall and our schedule is quite flexible so far. We will be around for about 5 days so plenty of time. Thanks for the suggestion, seafood recommendations are always welcome.

Thank you for all the recommendations, didn't expect so many so will need to do some research. So far, looking good though and plenty of options.
