I'm paid on the 18th so will definitely donate then, I love reptiles so much. We have a fat gecko I want to get on a shoot but he's very temperamental xD

Sorry for the delay in responding to your comment but I wanted to be at my computer so I could send you this image! As well as 3 snakes I also keep 2 geckos, Aiya & Draego. Draego who you can see below is a chill mo'fo but he did pee and poop on me on 2 seperate occasions during this shoot.

I also want to thank you for your future donation. I appreciate that times are tough and the money tree isn't blooming so every help I can get means the world to me.

If my disability comes through, I would try to help. I love my snake babies.

By the way, what species is Slash? He looks like some kind of California kingsnake, but I haven't seen that pattern and color. I don't know European snakes much.

Gothic Image - Thank you so much for that!

Python Photos - Thank you very much. :)

Slash is a Californian King Snake! I just did a quick Google search for Californian King snakes and you're right! She is very unusual compared. :)

The post Update on Slash has just been merged with this one because they were incredibly similar.

Why was it merged and where has my post gone? It was an update on my situation and now everything I wrote has disappeared.

If you don't mind typing, I would like to know how she's doing.

I'm also curious whether the vets ever considered using a hypodermic needle and syringe to suction the contents of the eggs to help her pass them. I've heard of people on this side of the pond suctioning out the contents of the rearmost egg and the snake then being able to pass them all. In the old days, a few breeders did this just by feel without vet help. In more recent times, they've often used ultrasound to get the needle into the egg and suck out everything but the shell. Sometimes, the problem is just one egg, and once that egg is deflated, everything can pass. This technique was less expensive and spared the snake the trauma of full surgery. I'm not saying that your vets are wrong not to do this. I just wonder whether the accepted practice has changed or whether this issue is one where the accepted treatment in Europe is very different from the accepted treatment in USA.

Apologies for the delay in updating everyone. I did spend half an hour writing an update post but an admit took it down for some reason. Python Photos

Slash was initially referred to The Royal Veterinary College of London for surgery by London's leading reptile specialist due to her complicated case and she was due to have her undeveloped eggs surgically removed. Unfortunately we were quoted a minimum price of £1500 for Slash's surgery and that didn't even begin to cover medication, accommodation and travel costs. At this point we felt like we had no choice in the matter but thankfully a good friend and reptile keeper pointed us in the direction of Nine Lives Veterinary Practice in Redbourne where reptile specialist, Dr. Chris MacDonald, took on our case and we left Slash in his capable hands. Hours later Chris rang us to inform us that with the help of sedation, anaesthetic, lube and probing Slash had been able to naturally expel her undeveloped eggs herself without the need for surgery. Initially, two different vets looked at Slash's x-rays and thought that they could see 2 eggs inside her but probing found that she actually had six, some of which had ruptured and one of them had amazingly gotten itself stuck in her colon. These ruptured eggs had become infected but fortunately Slash received her treatment before they the infection had had the chance to seep into her bloodstream. We hope to prevent this from happening with a course of antibiotics.

Slash was left with the vet on Monday and she will be coming home tonight. He was reluctant to release her any earlier than today as it has taken a few days for the sedation to wear off. I will update this group on her condition when she has settled back at home.
