Is it actually coming home?

Apparently Croatia fielded a player who was serving ban and was, therefore, not eligible to play. They may be disqualified.

***BREAKING NEWS***

FIFA officials have noticed that Croatia used a player that was yellow carded two games ago. He should have missed the last two games.

FIFA officials could disqualify Croatia from the World Cup, meaning England could potentially still be on their way to the final!

This news is official and can be checked on the BBC website. It was brought to the attention of the chairman of FIFA only 25 minutes ago.

Carlsberg don't do statuses, but if they did, this would be the best status of the World Cup 2018!

It's all over then, pretty decent final really. Makes a change from the usual stalemate we get (even though France were a bit jammy!). As usual most of the over-hyped players failed to do much of note and the likes of Germany, Brazil, Argentina were really poor. I thought England were pretty average and don't get all the hype. Still, I suppose it makes a change from moaning about their usual early exit. They had a very lucky draw and tried their best.. they're just not that good really. Overall I enjoyed it and thought the Russians put on a really good tournament. I'm sure I remember reading comments on this site from people saying that Putin would somehow exploit it for his own purposes, or somehow fix it so Russia win! Doesn't seem to have been the case at all :)

For me it's been the best world cup since Italia 90.

Not so much to do with England doing so well, but just the quality of the matches, the shock results and the general atmosphere.

Yes I fully agree. Russia have done a fantastic job, there was an amazing atmosphere, the Ultras didn't materialise, and it was great for World Unity. Well, until the orange buffoon stepped up the day before the final and said Russia and the European Union are the enemy. Must have gutted him to see a team with 7 muslim immigrant players win the world cup.

I think someone might have had a quiet word in the ear of the Ultras. 'Novochok' perhaps?  ;)

Bit too important to Putin.  I don't think the Pussy Riot participants will be very popular either!

Not to life - but to Putin's feelings...  :)

(and of course it proved the security was very lax - lucky they were not terrorists...)

They were dressed as security. Could easily happen at any sporting event as they take casual staff. But, those casual staff are searched themselves for weapons etc. I met a girl at the races who had her tweezers confiscated lol. Need one as my gf had a splinter so I imagine its the same in Russia. They will get fined £120 apparently and the Police are complaining its not the same as in Stalin's day lol

Hardly am excuse for not checking passes etc!

Veronica Nikulshina, the first member to face the court, was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest at a special prison and was banned from attending future sporting events.

They may have even had passes if they applied for temp jobs as security. A very light slap on the wrists I'd imagine such would get worse here.
