I heard your name at Princeton. /
I was seeking an accelerated course of study /
When I got sort of out of sorts with a buddy of yours. /
I may have punched him. It's a blur, sir. /
He handles the financials?

And now the phenomenal (and sadly no longer with us) Rachid Taha.
This track is absolute genius -- needs headphones and a proper mood on.

Deacon Blue - Raintown
Ahhh. Dignity is on that album, isn't it -- one of the best songs ever written. And certainly one of the most striking songs on a debut album from that era.
"An' he takes no lip off nobody / and litter off the gutter" is one of those clever little Ricky Ross double meaning tricks, like "Fergus sings the blues / in bars of twelve or less". Cleverness for the joy of it.

Mike H. it sure was, one of my favourite songs and albums as well.
Lucky enough to be given free tickets from Ricky back in ‘87 when they toured the album. We managed to sneak into the venue while they were sound checking in the afternoon and asked them to sign our copies of the album!
