Lilly Hiatt, '3 Days' (assisted by her Dad)
Ahh, I haven't heard much of her work.
I am quite a John Hiatt fan though. I saw Little Village play in 1992 at a festival... Emmylou Harris was lower down the running order with the Nash Ramblers (this running order decision in retrospect seems crazy but I guess Little Village were both briefly huge and even then very obviously fey in nature), as was Tony Joe White, Dennis Locorriere and Mark O'Connor.

The musical connection this most obviously makes for me though is this, which I shall listen to again:
These days it's David Lindley who is my god -- a weirdo multi-instrumentalist genius.
That's the amazing Bobby King and Terry Evans singing backing vocals (left and centre) and I think the guy on the right is Willie Greene Jr who is now with the Temptations.
(Cooder's son Joachim is playing the dumbek)
This is one of the greatest things ever recorded live and the "if you're sick and you wanna get well" bit almost makes me religious.

Ry Cooder is great favourite with Bruv & myself - my sixth-for college Biology tutor got me into Paradise & Lunch (and that track) That must have been about 1979. :-)
Steely Dan are still my favourite band, but these days I'm into simpler music produced with smaller resources like the stuff on the NPR Tiny Desk 20 minute concerts.
Here's something that's a very long way from Ry Cooder - but I like it a lot. :-)

Arlen - a very promising folk rock band band from the early 2000s, who unfortunately went their separate ways shortly after. They produced two CDs (both currently unavailable) but I also had the privilege of recording them live at The Talking Heads in Southampton. Recorded 16 track on pair of DA-88s and later mixed down to stereo in a friend's mobile recording truck. The only time I've ever recorded a didgeridoo!

The drummer is basically the entire 1980s US rock scene in one person. Lindley has always been a nutter.
