"American Epic", a 5 disc set of rural & vernacular music from the 1920's & 30's. Based around the first electronic recordings captured with Western Electrics "portable" recording equipment.
Covers everything from folk songs to blues to Cajun to Hawaiian. Interesting, even if some tracks are less than great, it's surprising how old some well known songs are. I've heard quite a few as later recordings, Hank William's famous "Lovesick blues" for instance, performed by Emmett Miller in 1928.
