How many shoots did you do in 2024 and plans for next year?

Just curious how everyone's 2024 went. How many shoots did you do, and would you do more / less if you could? Are you planning to ramp up or slow down in 2025? Did you shoot what you wanted to shoot? And for models, did you find enough collabs and work out there?

I've only done a few this year, as I had a lot of other stuff going on. Finding local models seems a bit more challenging as the years have gone on, so I've had to travel further afield. Hopefully should do more next year, plus some workshops and group shoots.

I average about one shoot per month, I think it will be about 15 this year.

I'd love to shoot more but funds & even more, time is restricted.

I always have far more models I'd like to work with than I can fit in & restrict myself to those that are local or easy to get to.

I didn't do any shoots for fun this year, even though I managed to make 3 trips to Vietnam with the best of intentions to shoot a range of Vietnamese traditional clothing out on location. But at least I now have all the contacts I need to go out there again in 2025 and make a better job of it... :-)

Less this year (17 booked) compared to 2023 (20 I think).

As with most things, 2025 will depend on costs and time - although I already have 5 shoots booked in.

I'm guessing it will be along similar lines as previous years, a mixture of new and old models (to me).

I did about a dozen. I don’t have too many restrictions on travel, so finding models was pretty easy, though it is becoming more common to have comms go silent or cancellations.

One new model who no-showed has since gone on to garner a very poor record of cancelling/no showing, so had I known I wouldn’t have booked her - that’s the chance you take booking new models I guess. Fortunately I always have a back-up plan and don’t have any associated costs like studio bookings to worry about.

Almost all shoots that went ahead went really well, and a few were exceptional (Rose Magdalene Child springs to mind). I think that is because I am leaning more towards booking established models these days…partly because so few new ones are joining.

I plan to do a similar number next year hopefully.

I averaged about one shoot per month, I think it will be only 10 this year.

I'd love to shoot more but 2023 battered my enthusiasm. I had 52 booked (1 per week) but with late cancels and no shows only ended up with 12. Three of them with a reliable local model.

I have many more models I'd like to work with and I travel to shoot fitting in around other plans.

I currently have 2 casting calls out and several other ideas in the background.

I am also willing to shoot most things TF

Here's hoping for a more productive 2025

About 2 modelling jobs a week which is similar to most years, which I'm surprised about due to being promoted to an Associate at my full time job - I've perfected balancing my time between everything over the years! Then one or two photography jobs a month but I am going to limit these and focus on particular areas of work to be able to have a good balance with my lifestyle, maybe one bigger job per month or something.

Next year is looking similar, I think this is my perfect balance so intend to keep a similar rhythm.

The only thing I struggle with is fitting in TF on both sides of the camera and my self portraits which I used to do absolutely loads of! I've hardly been able to fit any in this year so I have a list of personal projects and self shoots I want to do and will try my best as it really helps me keep my passion for modelling and photography.

Have a lovely and creative 2025 everyone! :)

Thinking about it, I have a lot of trips planned for this year so I'll hopefully naturally slow down a bit finally which I am grateful for!

I managed about 20 - but only 2 via PurplePort. That's a problem living in West Wales where there are fewer models within 'reach'. Models via StarNow (where I get most of my models) are happier to travel, at their own expense, and, if under 18, their parents usually pay for accommodation and make a weekend of it.

In pro studios I've done 31 shoots (possibly more without looking at records), at least 23 of these were since July, but all were with the same photographer lol.

I only have one project so far I wish to complete in very early 2025 which we have been planning for years, hopefully it won't be a complete let down. As for other shoots we will continue to use a mix of studios, locations.

29 shoots during 2024. Next year? Who knows? :)

I normally try to do one shoot a month. I did five in the first three months of this year and have done nothing for the last nine months. I just felt I needed a complete break from model shooting to get my creative juices flowing once again.

What does 2025 have in store? To be honest I don't know. I do intend to start shooting models again at some point. But I haven't really missed it, which is worrying. So into the unkown next year!

54 this year. It would have been more, but I've been out of action with a knackered back for the last month or so. However, the osteopath has been working miracles on the back; so I'm hoping to do a few more shoots between Christmas and the end of the year.

Next year? Nine in the diary for the early part of the year, but I'm ancient and decrepit and my energy levels are dropping so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to continue doing this. But there are three or four things on my 'shoots to do before I die' list, so I'm going to prioritise those.

One a month on average I think. 2025 I'm taking a break although may do the odd shoot with models I already have a relationship with, and I've said if you want to message and say "can we shoot" then I'll set it up.

But I can't see there being many first shoots if any.

At the moment I am caring for my mother  who is very frail so I tried to get one shoot per month but I am limited tothe time I can be away so local shoots of a max of 4 hours and I hope this will be something I can continue next year,

10 this year. My first in 7 years in Feb and then 9 since September once I’d retired and had more time.

Next year only 1 shoot booked so far, but I’m travelling with the wife to book events so plan to book multiple models each trip as I’ll usually have a couple of days to fill.

I also want to try and arrange a couple of European roadtrips and shoot closer to some of the awesome talent that resides over there.

I expect to shoot at least 12 sessions maybe more - let’s see what the bank balance can support!
