Bluesky

Has anyone else migrated to Bluesky?

Personally I like it for a few reasons:
- Ability to show / tag nude images
- Weblinks possible in Profiles & Posts without resorting to workarounds

Their moderation service has marked your art nudes with Keira as Adult, and so disables it, rather than as Non-sexual Nudity (e.g. artistic nudes), which seems to have a different level of "hide".

Is it enabled if I create an account and log in?

Yes, anyone with an account can enable all 3 levels and show images under any of the tagging by default

You can pre-state the level but there are still some niggles.

No, not bothering.  CBA.

For a while it is much nicer than Xitter.

Nothing is built-in to enforce that continuing.

Xwitterbots are infusing Threads, with visible deterioration in quality.

The Fediverse - Mastodon, PixelFed and other interacting apps - does have something built in to limit or confine that. It protects it against the more usual sorts of enshitification.  Oh, and nude away as you like.

Smaller federated servers seem a better way to go.

(bluesky could be federated, decentralised, multilocular, but it isn't.)

I've just signed up although I don't know how involved with it I'll be.

Given you a follow on there anyway.

It's nice, but the Twitter nazis are still coming, and Bluesky's "verification" process is too complex for people to engage in or really understand.

I mean on the one hand, it'll still be fine with me if Elmo's business loses even more money and its valuation remains not all that much more than Truth Social (which is *hilarious* considering how much he was ultimately compelled to pay for it).

But Bluesky will likely soon be just as rotten as Twitter in terms of its culture, because people who spread hateful shit don't ever take the opportunity to take a step back and say "no, maybe this time I won't".

No.

And for this very reason:

- Ability to show / tag nude images

I want something that is safe to look at on my phone at work, on the bus, train, coffee shop, etc.

I don't want to be constantly bombarded with tits and bits just because I'm a man.

David Wilcock said, 1732718566

Stu H it can be easily set up so that the tits and bits don’t automatically appear, you get a warning first.

No. There’s enough platforms around already. Already bored with most of the ones I actually use as well.

No. As the net effect of social media has been to slam civilisation into reverse, I'll pass.

Yes Dan and thoroughly enjoying the experience currently.

Hopefully with the investment in the moderation team and an apparently open discourse with its users it may stay sane for a while longer. I believe the former head of the Twitter safety team is looking after the moderation team so we may be OK if they can scale quickly enough.

I doubt monetisation isn’t somewhere down the road so time will tell.

Currently scaling at about 1m new users a week with a team of just over 20 employees takes some work. I’m happy to give them the benefit of the doubt.

If it goes to shitsville I’ll simply top using it as I have Twitter and Insta.

Currently there seems to be genuine positive engagement and polite constructive discourse in the photography community there so it’s a decent space to exist in. In my opinion.

It's just another re-hash of Twitter.

Another platform which is not needed

It is absolutely a rehash of Twitter -- literally ex-Twitter people trying to implement the central learning experience of Twitter (that it's a protocol masquerading as a platform).

I may yet join, though my feelings about social media generally would preclude me doing much with it.

Lately I am getting a _lot_ out of Facebook, though in ways that are at odds with the way many people use it; I am currently learning a lot that might influence a choice of career for my later years, and getting a lot of utility from private Facebook groups. I would be unable to get that benefit from a short-form, full-broadcast service like Bluesky or Twitter.

signed up. Calmnudes there too.

My work persona is getting more traction than my photographer one, which gets more traction on IG.

It's just like twitter was before in got turned into a barely mitigated torrent of shit.

Doesn't it rely on users selecting the correct safety settings?

No thanks.

People - including on here - will select the safety setting that they feel gives them the greatest audience. That's always going to be a SFW setting.

Anyway ... why do we need yet another site that allows the reader to be bombarded with images of near or naked women? And it is pretty much always women. Can't there be some social media safe places?
